A month ago Boniface Mwangi called Jaguar a socialite and even claimed the singer was defacing his campaign posters. But yesterday July 27th things were different when Boniface met Jaguar.
Starehe constituency seat is a hotly contested race with three aspirants Jaguar, Steve Mbogo and Boniface Mwangi all eyeing the same seat.
Boniface Mwangi previously had issues with Jaguar whom he accused of sabotaging his campaign in Starehe constituency.
On Thursday however Boniface and Jaguar met while they were both campaigning in Kariakor. The Rights Activist gave Jaguar a copy of his manifesto, shared a few jokes and went back to his campaign.
The nonviolent approach that Jaguar and Boniface showcased melted the hearts of Kenyans who lauded them for showing political maturity despite both running for a political seat for the first time.
Jaguar has learnt a few tricks about politics and now he has decided to play dirty to gain leverage over his opponent whose candidature is shrouded in scandals.
A few days ago, Steve Mbogo rushed to court to seek an order barring three media houses from running a story linking him to defilement case.
Mbogo’s move to go to court was eureka moment for Jaguar, the singer all over sudden discovered his rival’s soft underbelly where he could inflect serious damage once struck.
The singer launched scathing attack on Steve Mbogo while campaigning in Ngara over the past weekend; he touched on his opponent’s defilement case and fraud.
Jaguar said.
The race for Starehe parliamentary seat is deemed as a three horse race between Jaguar, Boniface Mwangi and Steve Mbogo. The Rights Activist is now blaming his rival for foul play.
Last Friday Boniface Mwangi was the guest anchor on Friday Briefing where he defended his candidature; he also went HAM on Jaguar and Steve Mbogo referring them as a socialite (Jaguar) and a conman (Steve Mbogo). Watch the interview in the video below:
Two days later, Boniface took to social media to produce evidence to prove Jaguar had been sabotaging his campaign in Starehe constituency.
The Rights Activist claims Jaguar had been defacing his campaign posters, he posted photos that showed Jaguar’s poster smeared all over his campaign posters.
Boniface also referred his rival as a ‘cry baby’ who was too afraid to face him in a debate, he claimed Jaguar couldn’t articulate why he was vying for Starehe MP.
“Cry Baby Njagua can’t face me in a debate, can’t articulate why he is vying for MP but he is defacing my posters across #StareheNiBonnie #JoinBonnie1MillionChallenge” Boniface Mwangi wrote.
Now that it’s official Jaguar is venturing into politics his fans have been showing their support and unlike before the going no where hitmaker is now more active on his social media pages like he means business.
He is also one who likes keeping his family on the low and for the first time the fella has shared a photo of his father and boy do the two look alike.
This is however not the first time Jaguar is sharing a photo of his father on his ocial media. But since the two were having a son and father moment, he couldn’t help but show off this other side of him that most people rarely see.
Anyway, many youths seem to have hope in him and are patiently waiting to see how he will serve them once elected in the coming elections.
Even though Jaguar’s win was a bitter pill for him to swallow, Maina Kamanda has ultimately agreed to support the Kigeugeu singer…But not without revealing a shocking revelation.
Jaguar was given Jubilee nomination certificate to vie for Starehe parliamentary seat after the Appeals Tribunal ruled in his favor.
In an address to the press at his Muthaiga home in Nairobi on Thursday May 4th, Maina Kamanda conceded defeat to Jaguar.
The veteran politician however maintained that he won the nomination even though he conceded defeat to Jaguar. Maina state that he won’t vie as an independent candidate instead he urged his supporters to throw their weight behind Jaguar.
“We need to be told if the old people have space in the party. I won the nominations but someone else was given a certificate,” Mr. Kamanda said.
The incumbent Starehe MP shocked journalists when he revealed that ODM is to be blamed for his defeat – he claimed most of the voters who participated in Jubilee nomination were ODM supporters.
“Fifty per cent of those who voted in Nairobi were members of ODM. So it was like an ODM nomination,” he said.
Finally Charles Njagua Kanyi aka Jaguar has the last laugh, the musician was rigged out of Jubilee nominations for Starehe constituency but yesterday he was named the victor.
Jubilee Appeals Tribunal ruled in favor of Jaguar, the tribunal’s chairperson Faith Waigwa said there was compelling evidence proving that a returning officer altered the musician’s results.
Jaguar was given Jubilee nomination certificate yesterday May 3rd, he will now battle it out with ODM’s Steve Mbogo and Ukweli Party’s Boniface Mwangi.
Jaguar also slung mad at Maina Kamanda while celebrating his victory, he said that the incumbent MP was fond of rigging out his competitors.
“What we know about history ya mheshimiwa Kamanda he has been rigging out people since 1979, and whenever I went for the campaigns watu walikua wananiambia we might not come vote for coz we know utanyanganywa certificate. And everyday nkiamuka mapema I had to go convince people Jubilee iko fair and sitanyanganywa certificate na Maina Kamanda,” Jaguar said while addressing the press at Jubilee headquarters.
Mike Sonko also taunted the veteran politician, he called him a tribal cartel as he referred to a past incident where Maina called him a dog.
“Before I go to the Jeff Koinange’s live show let me take this opportunity to congratulate my friend @jaguarkenya for clinching the Jubilee’s starehe parliamentary certificate. It wasn’t an easy job some of us were referred to as “DOGS” by the tribal cartels but all the same we believe that Kenyans we are one. God we thank you for this big miracle. Thank you the Great people of Nairobi as well for standing with us,” Sonko wrote.
Finally Charles Njagua Kanyi aka Jaguar is jubilee flag bearer for Starehe constituency in a race that now pits him against Steve Mbogo and Boniface Mwangi.
Jubilee Appeals Tribunal ruled on the disputed results of Starehe primaries on Tuesday May 2nd; incumbent MP Maina Kamanda had been declared winner with 10,374 votes, while jaguar garnered 8,391 votes.
Jaguar however disputed the results and held protests with his supporters at the Jubilee headquarters on Saturday. He demanded to be given the nomination certificate arguing that he floored Kamanda.
Jubilee tribunal yesterday May 2nd ruled in favor of Jaguar, he was declared Jubilee party winner in last week’s Starehe parliamentary nominations.
“Ahsante Starehe, I knew it won’t be an easy fight but together we did it#We won,” Jaguar wrote following the ruling by Jubilee tribunal.
Jaguar’s victory made Robert Alai gain a sense of self-assertion, he was certain Jubilee would give the ‘Kigeugeu’ singer Starehe nomination certificate even before the ruling was made.
“As I told you, Jaguar has finally been given the Starehe nomination certificate. Don’t listen to me at your own risk. #SiasaKenya” Robert Alai tweeted.
Jaguar is confident he defeated veteran politician Maina Kamanda in the just concluded Jubilee primaries. He has issued an ultimatum before the verdict for the Starehe nominations is delivered sometimes today May 2nd.
Last Saturday April 29th Jaguar and his supporters were reduced to tears after he was forced to negotiate a deal with Maina Kamanda to resolve the impasse.
Jaguar couldn’t fathom the idea of negotiating with his opponent whom he believes he defeated fair and square. The singer was inconsolable at Jubilee party headquarters in Pangani.
The musician claimed the incumbent rigged him out of the tightly contested party primary; Maina garnered 10,374 votes against Jaguar’s 8,391 votes.
Jaguar yesterday May 1st reiterated that he wouldn’t negotiate any consensus, he insisted that Jubilee should rule in his favor since everybody knows that he won the nomination.
“The verdict for the Starehe nominations will be read tomorrow by 5pm. As I promised earlier I will not negotiate any consensus. I thank my supporters who woke up early stood in line to vote for the much needed change in Starehe. I will be headed to Jubilee house tomorrow afternoon ahead of the verdict. Let’s meet there to show support and equally celebrate our victory. I trust jubilee will rule in our favor. God is on our side, no one will stand against us,” Jaguar wrote.
Just when you thought his campaigns were being crippled by his case in court, Jaguar pops to launch a massive project in Starehe that gives him an added advantage over his competitors who include Boniface Mwangi, Steve Mbogo, incumbent MP Maina Kamanda among others.
The singer was charged with causing the deaths of boda boda cyclist Peter Mugo and his passenger Sinfolian Maingi. His case is still in court.
Jaguar’s case in court is however not distracting him from focusing on his campaigns in Starehe constituency, he launched a massive project to rehabilitate vital roads in the constituency.
Jaguar took heavy construction vehicles to Starehe to start the roads rehabilitation project. He said the roads will facilitate ease of doing business for his constituents.
“Barabara za Glogon(Kirinyaga road) zimekuwa hazipitiki na biashara mingi zimeharibika haswa za watengenezangi Wa magari, wauzaji vyuma vya magari na wachuuzi pia..kama mbunge mtarajiwa Starehe nimeanza kazi ya kutengeneza barabara hizo ili biashara ziendelee…Mwamko mpya Starehe,” Jaguar wrote.
Jaguar was yesterday April 10th charged in a Baricho court, Kirinyaga County over the deaths of two people in a road crash.
The two men who lost their lives were identified as Peter Mugo and Sinfolian Maingi, they died on the spot after Jaguar’s Range Rover KCB 808J hit their motorbike at high speed on Makutano-Sagana highway on March 22nd 2017.
The accident took a new turn after it was reported that it was a woman who was recklessly driving the Range Rover and not Jaguar himself – the singer however confirmed he was behind the wheels.
Jaguar was yesterday presented in court and charged with causing the deaths of boda boda cyclist Peter Mugo and his passenger Sinfolian Maingi.
He denied the charges and asked the court to release him on bond – Senior Principal Magistrate Evans Kiago released him on Kes 50,000 cash bail until June 26th when his case will be heard.
Jaguar’s bond sparked mixed reactions on social media, some claimed the court was being lenient to the singer yet he caused the deaths of two people.
Critics argued that Cyprian Nyakundi didn’t kill anyone yet the court slapped him with a Kes 300,000 fine. The Twitter bigwig was sentenced to four months in jail for contempt of court on March 20th 2017. Nyakundi had been embroiled in a defamation case with Safaricom CEO Bob Collymore.
The court gave Nyakundi the option of paying Kes 300,000 fine or spending four months in the penitentiary.
