Gachagua praises Ivy Chelimo for coming up with the term “Riggy G.”
In a previous interview, Chelimo explained that the nickname wasn’t premeditated but rather a spontaneous idea that went viral on Twitter. Gachagua himself had embraced the nickname, calling it “melodious” and appreciating how it connected with the youth and made his name easier to pronounce.
However, in light of Gachagua’s impeachment, Chelimo has changed her social media profile picture. She replaced a long-standing photo of herself conversing with the former DP with a new image of just herself, signaling a shift in her public persona.
Following the Senate’s decision to uphold Gachagua’s impeachment, an internal government memo dated October 19, 2024, instructed 108 employees linked to the DP’s office, including senior officials and advisors, to take compulsory leave. Reports indicate that government staff assigned to Gachagua were also removed from his rural home in Nyeri County, and his official vehicles were withdrawn.
