Habida tells Kenyan women to stop lying about not needing a man

The idea that “independent women” don’t need males since they can support themselves is one that continues to evoke conflicting opinions.

Legendary chanteuse Habida Moloney, however, disagrees with this story.

“No, I disagree with that. We definitely need a man. You need a man to go through life with that’s how we were created.

All these women saying they don’t need men are liars. You can have the money but it won’t keep you warm at night,”

Although partnerships have recently gotten more materialistic, Habida, who first gained attention in 2009 with the popular song Sunshine featuring Nameless, added that a woman’s yearning for a man will never go away.

“We (women) definitely need men, good men. We are not looking for money but for companionship, love and happiness. However, let’s not forget men are meant to provide,”

The mother of two, 41, has been married for more than 20 years. After living in the UK and the US where she had gone to study music, Habida met her husband when she returned to Kenya.

“I met my husband when he was quite broke. He had a car that broke down every time. At the time, I was from the US, I had bought two homes in the US. I had a good life but he is someone I thought I could do life with. I’m not a money person but since we met we grew together,”

Habida acknowledges that getting married has been a life-changing experience, but it has also slowed down her singing career.

“I don’t regret being married but it has slowed down my music career because obviously there are kids involved, there is a husband and life to live,”

Singer Habida shares her Cancer results!

Singer Habida recently opened up about a lump she recently found on her breast. After giving it much thought, she then met with a team of doctors who carried a test on her to confirm whether the lump was cancerous.

As seen on her Instagram page, Habida narrated how she watched her dad battle with the monstrous disease; and in the end he lost the battle but according to her. She went on to write;

Today after a long two weeks of pondering “what the hell is in my body” I had a biopsy at #centralmiddlesexhospital Thank God for the very friendly staff because there are not many things that scare me but dang “I was scared”.

Good news

However, earlier today the lady who doubles up as a mum and wife went on to make a new announcement on her page. After waiting for almost a week, Habida finally got her results back and to her surprise they came back negative.

The excited singer went on her IG page to announce the good news saying;

I’ve got my result! And it’s a fantastic “negative” result for cancer! I have had moments of fear, moments of faith, crying moments at the thought of death because of my children and then moments of confidence that God can do all things!

She went on to thank her Almighty for seeing her through this saying;

I realized that it’s only in moments of crisis do we prepare! I need God in all facets of my life! I need to prepare myself for trials in life because they WILL come. Why did I have to see death as a real potential before I choose to live? Why can’t we choose life and life more abundantly because that’s Gods will for us? After leaving Kenya, Habida relocated to the United States with her husband and children; since then the lady has not been active in making music, but she continues to appreciate fans.

Habida

For this reason, she went on to share a few words with her fans saying;

I am sorry to all those I shocked with my post! ???????????????????????????????????????????? I share to empower because I sometimes feel alone in my struggles, so I want all those women whom I now understand…. to know your not alone, their pain, their fear, their feelings, I get it all now. I don’t know if I have cancer yet, as the biopsy is all I have been through at this point, but the procedure itself was enough to know this is not an easy disease to go through. I will share as much as my emotions allow me and hopefully it builds even one person. #superwomanfoundation #habidaspeaks #gothrough #yournotalone #cancerscare,”

We need Habida back on the local music scene

There are two Kenyan female artists who mesmerized me during my teenage years. One of them is, of course, Judith Nyambura, alias Avril, while the other one is Habida Moloney, simply known as Habida.

Despite the fact that both ladies were blessed with good looks, the reason I was so obsessed with them was because of their impeccable voices. If you are/were a fan of either of them, then you know what I’m talking about.

Habida

However, for some reason I don’t really know, Habida disappeared from the music scene when she was at the peak of her and little has been heard from her since then, musically speaking.

Actually, she crossed my mind for the first time in 5 (or so) years when I came across a new track titled Show Me The Way. Surprisingly, the song is still at a hundred views and it’s three days after she released it.

Habida

Not that the jam is whack but she has a lot changed that is if you compare it with her previous releases like Sunshine, My Reason and Kesho. I guess this is what polished people refer to as musical growth.

Personally, I prefer the Habida that I knew in the early 2010s. If she’s keen on making a comeback on the local music scene then that is the surest way to go about it. Put simply, she should drop her newfound uptown vibe.

We’ve really missed Habida on the entertainment scene because, believe it or not, she is one of the most gifted artists that we have around and it’s high time she re-invented herself because she is really talented.

Listen to Show Me The Way below and tell us what you think. Enjoy!

Adding that;

“My issue was I had a Cesarean and my body had skin hanging everywhere and stretch marks and I’m like ‘I’ve always been a size 8 what is this’ and my husband would be like ‘You are beautiful’ but I’m like ‘You are lying’.”
