Mercy Masika lands Ambassadorial job at the UNHCR

Kenyan gospel singer-songwriter, Mercy Masika lands a job as a Goodwill Ambassador at the UNHCR becoming the first Kenyan to claim this position.

19th of June 2019, UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency have announced the appointment of the gospel singer as its International Goodwill Ambassador (Kenya).

Up on social media, the popular artist expresses her excitement and gratitude for this honor.

It’s a real honour to be appointed Goodwill Ambassador,thank you @unhcrkenya @unhcr for this honor.

This comes at a time when the world is deeply immersed in unprecedented forced displacement.

With Kenya currently hosting close to 480,000 refugees and asylum seekers.

Mercy points out that she now seeks to meet more individuals forced to flee their homes for various reasons.

Inspiration

According to her, Jesus too was a refugee.

Therefore believes we have all been called to represent our very own who are in a similar vulnerable position.

Refugees are just like you and me – they could in fact be any of us.

I believe as an African community we have a responsibility to invoke the spirit of Ubuntu –

that we carry each other’s burdens by showing our warm heartedness in the face of a refugee’s struggle.

The performing artist discloses how various Bible verses keep pushing her to work with UNHCR.

The first time I went to Kakuma refugee camp was life changing

because I got to hear from women who had been through really terrible experiences.

It is listening to these experiences that motivates me to advocate for their well-being.

Background

Prior to the appointment, Masika was UNHCR´s High Profile Supporter.

Through championing its LuQuLuQu campaign in a bid to change the narrative of the African refugee.

Through my involvement with the LuQuLuQu campaign, I have the opportunity to meet with people who have been forced to flee

and who, despite having lost everything, show unwavering resilience to overcome their circumstances to rebuild their lives

Since then, Mercy continuously advocates for and supports UNHCR´s work in protecting refugees.

Right from supporting public engagement to fundraising campaigns.

Additionally representing UNHCR globally at the National Prayer Breakfast in Washington D.C earlier on.

An event that had high profile individuals including the US President present.

Gospel singer Mercy Masika forced to cancel new marketing campaign following Dusit D2 attack

Gospel singer Mercy Masika has canceled an event set to take place at the Dusit D2 hotel after yesterday’s terror attack.

The singer was set to launch a marketing promotion of a soap brand today but had to move the date.

“Mercy Masika was set to launch a new marketing campaign for a soap brand. Sharing the information with media. As a result of the attack on Dusit Hotel along Riverside Drive, we have postponed tomorrow’s event to a later date.” her team wrote.

Masika and Ariel Kenya were to unveil a campaign dubbed “Ultimate Guarantee” to reward Domestic Managers (DMs) across the country.

Following the attack that has left dozens injured, several events set to happen in the hotel have been canceled.

“We shall confirm the new date once the brand decided on a date and the situation is more conducive. We would like to express our hope that all those affected by the attack receive the help they require. We stand in solidarity with the rest of the country in this trying time.” said Masika’s team.

Gospel singer Eko Dydda can testify he recently had a direct encounter with Satan while trying to spread the word of God.

The Vidole hitmaker was recently forced to cancel his performance after drunk Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST) chased him off demanding they want a secular artist.

Not today

The singer was set to perform at the cultural week but things turned ugly after students demanded he shouldn’t perform because he’ll start preaching to them.

“We do not want gospel singers in this mood. We need someone who can rock when we are this high. Eko will start preaching to us, let him go!” the students said.

Still, Satan didn’t win. Not completely. Fortunately, the event organizers had already paid him KSh. 50,000 to perform between 1 am and 4 am.

Mercy Masika this past weekend could not hold back from celebrating her husband’s birthday like most celebrities. She dedicated him a loving message that left many impressed by the love the two share.

Through her Instagram page, the gospel singer went on to praise him for not only being a good husband but the best dad to their girls! She is proud to call him her man as he unique in his own ways and most of all one that knows God.

Mwema hit maker Mercy Masika is the new brand ambassador for Ariel as revealed in her latest post. The lady broke the news through her Instagram page attracting hundreds of congratulatory comments from fans and fellow celebrities.

This being the first major deal we have seen her bag, Mercy Masika could not hold back her joy. She wrote a well detailed post where she gave a positive review about Ariel saying;
