Stephen Kasolo drops new track “Pito Langu” a feel of worship in this tough times

The much-needed encouragement during this world-wide crisis is here. Stephen Kasolo has just dropped his new single ‘Pito’.

The 8 minute long song bears resemblance to the Tanzanian gospel songs by artists such as Bahati Bukuku, Christina shusho, Christopher Mwahangila among others.

Perhaps this has rubbed off on him since he has done collabos with Rose Muhando and Martha Mwaipaja from Tanzania.

Besides his collabos, Kasolo has several singles to his name most of which are in his native Kikamba language as well as Swahili.

Some of his songs include: Kyaa Kya Ngai, Kitole. Nitilaa Kivutha, Mapenzi ya Kweli, Natiiwe Naku, Yamekuwa machungu and many more.

The Video

Its mostly a lyric video featuring a slide show of pictures that depict the challenging lifestyle of the common mwananchi in different places such as the villages, urban slums areas, and some marginalized communities up country.

The pictures are enough to compliment the song in a perfect manner.

Lyrics

This song come at a time of self reflection amid the deadly pandemic. Kasolo could not have dropped this jam at any other time.

He states how trying times have taught him to love God and has taught him various life lessons. We all have our stories to tell.

Kila jambo hutendeka kwa kuleta wema mama

Jambo hili unalopitia litaleta wema kwako.

The lengthy song gives one time to ponder about the challenges they are going trough before they get encouraged and assured one that it is for their good in the end.

Stephen mentions daily struggles like how friends flee whenever one needs them the most. Also, how we get second chances in life long after everyone gives up and on us and there’s no hope left.

Fans have flooded the comment section on YouTube stating how much the song has encouraged and inspired them to keep pushing.

Many of them have thanked and wished him well in his musical career as they await even more encouraging songs from him. Well watch and tell us what you think.

Bahati now teams up with Boondocks gang for “Taniua” gospel song

When the noise around gengetone music going to church then here comes another dubbed “Taniua” by Bahati featuring Boondocks gang.

EMB records CEO Bahati seems to have known how to capitalize on scandals. I mean it was just the other day that he was trending for getting Peter Blessing arrested.

Then I remember saying his drama was louder than his music.

Taniua

Well, it’s obvious he thrives on that. Here now he drops “Taniua”  loosely translates to “kill me”. This is a phrase that was made famous by Exray as a signature tune.

However, the concept for this song is around a guy that is trying to reevaluate his life, torn between Christianity and the worldly fun.

For one I give credit for the team up despite knowing that this would spark a conversation among netizens. Furthermore, I believe Bahati knew this would be good for business.

Especially after the drama, he has had lately.

The lyrics are quite hard to understand for those that struggle with the Kenyan sheng. Yes, the idea was well put but too difficult for some people.

But anyway here it is. The lyrics have too much weight around kishada and hangovers.

On the other hand, I will give credit where it’s due, Boondocks gang delivered their lines just as expected. The beat to the song is also not badly off.

The delivery of the song would have been better with clearer lyrics because no matter what happens I believe God deserves His respect.

We can play around with everything but not the truth about the gospel.

For that in one sense if the song was merely for entertainment then I say good job, however, I will be lying if I say that many will sit down to listen to this for any conviction purpose. It’s all wrongly done but well-intended.

Gengetone now becoming a nuisance to many Kenyans

Gengetone gave the entire Kenyan audience an opportunity to come back home and listen to Kenyan music in late 2018 and whole of 2019.

With small boy groups emerging almost simultaneously. They dropped what some felt was “too dirty” or raunchy for them. The shame crept in till it became a norm!!

They stirred a series of mixed reactions from Kenyans with a bunch of them like Sailors Gang, Boondocks gang, Ochungulo Family among others receiving accolades.

Well, as time went by, despite the cry to silence them they managed to curve their way to the hearts of a bunch of Kenyans that have been dancing to their tunes.

Furthermore, the groups have been lashed at in terms of content. Many would say that they thrive on vulgarity and nudity -which to some extent is true.

God’s Gengetone??

While we are still preparing for the Sunday service gengetone crept its way to the gospel industry when Sailors Gang gave us “Jesu Ni Mwathani”.

Well, we danced to that but with little whispers on how we are familiarising ourselves to God as though He is our mate.

When we thought that was the end then came to another Akorino group with another song about God dubbed “Piga Darama”

I mean don’t get it twisted am not judging a way of worshipping or praising but imagine “Piga darama” in the list of praise songs during a church service. Yes, your guess is just like mine, impossible!!!

Point is, this kupelekwa na rieng thing has now taken things to another level where we are now accepting nonsense. Sheddy empire messed it up further by doing a song in diapers something that many thought was going overboard all in the name of making music.

Gengetone nuisance

Gengetone producers are working hard every day to segment its audience within a particular geographical space of this country.

Despite the hullabaloo of accepting them we need to acknowledge the fact that they are now becoming a nuisance. Why? For publicity gain.

But for the sake of sanity and talent growth, there needs to be a control system on how this gengetone music should be done!!

Because God is to be respected there is no in-between and creativity doesn’t need you to sing about “mapunyeto” to gain an audience.

If you doubt, ask Khalighraph  Jones, he is the best rapper in Nigeria!!!! Ok am out!

Mr. Seed and Solomon Mkubwa  Bless the world with “UPO”

Days after his exit from the EMB records, Starborn Empire CEO Mr. Seed is causing a stir in the gospel industry with his latest song ‘UPO’ which he featured Tanzania’s  award winning gospel artist Solomon Mkubwa.

The song is more of a prayer to God to remember those in need as we believe in his presence-‘UPO’. What better time to do such a beautiful song than now?

Many people are struggling with emotional issues and the Duo have done justice by dropping this tune. UPO is Swahili which loosely translates to   ‘You are there’ .

Delivery of the song

Mr Seed starts the song with,Mmmh tunakuamini daily,Mmmh tunakungoja daily baba’,  reminding us how much we believe and wait upon the Lord.Many of us are still waiting.

He continues in prayer calling on  God to illuminate his power and presence  upon people  that are wallowing in darkness, sadness and pain. 

‘Eeh na giza limejaa, angaza tukuone Mmmh wagonjwa wamejaa shuka uwaponye Eeh na giza limejaa, angaza tukuone eeeh wagonjwa wamejaa shuka uwaponye’.

He is later joined by Mkubwa in exciting  harmony at the Bridge and Chorus of the song.

Solomon Mkubwa comes in to give it a tune of worship while in the background, the guitar and keyboard keep us dancing.

In the the following stanzas Mkubwa asks God to remember His people. At the end of it all, the  sick,the church,the jobless and families will be blessed by this tune.

Production

Further, the  beat of the  gives you a reason to groove with conviction,hope and humility. He also says that musicians are also waiting upon God.

Lastly, the song gives you a reason to still believe in the church.

The song’s  audio was  produced by Starborn Empire studios and Producer Paulo with  the Video being done by Tom Gor.

With every line and beat the song is worth listening to  if not be on  your playlist. For this song I give  it 8/10 rating, it should be on the playlists for a while and the duo should give us another song soon.Job well done.
