Githurai girl now joins millionaire’s club after signing Sh 2.5 million deal

Still trending almost a month after a clip of her singing Alicia Keys’ “Girl on Fire” went viral, Glorious Amani or who many have been calling Githurai girl, might trend a little longer because of her back account.

The 13-year-old has signed a record deal worth Ksh 2.5 million shillings from Pine Creek record and will be releasing her first music video soon under her new stage name: Amani G.

“13 year old @amani­_gee 18 is all smiles after officially signing a KES 2.5 million record deal with @PineCreekMusic”, read part of the statement.

Her viral video wowed not only Kenyans but also 15-time American Grammy Award winning artist Alicia Keys who even went on to post it on social media.Creek is also excited to sign her.

“The young songstress will go by the stage name ‘Amani G’ and is set to shoot a video for her first single ‘SITASAHAU’ this Saturday 14th July 2018”, Pine Creek Records posted on their Instagram post.

Gracious Amani, a girl from Githurai who topped headlines worldwide from her singing talent, is still impressing many including the artist behind the song she was recorded singing.

American singer Alicia Keys finally watched the video of the Amani singing “Girl on Fire” and was really impressed, just like the rest of the world.

Taking to Twitter on Wednesday, June 27, Alicia showed nothing but love for Amani.

“Look at this beautiful soul,” the celebrated musician wrote as she shared the viral video of Amani singing her heart out. 

Hit the studio

Amani has been recruited by singer Vivian already and the two hit the studio after the video went viral. Vivian’s manager and hubby, Sam West said they’ll also manage her.

“They are recording a song together then they will shoot a video for the same. The girl has shown interest in music and Vivian is more than willing to mentor her through her musical career,” said Sam.

The sentencing of three Githurai matatu crew accused of stripping and robbing a female passenger has thrilled feminists even as most men complain the ruling was harsh.

Nicholas Mwangi (bus driver), and two conductors Meshack Mwangi and Edward Ndung’u were found guilty of the robbery with violence and assault.

The three committed the offense in September 2014, the incident was caught on camera sparking public uproar in Kenya and outside the country.

Julie Gichuru commended the Nairobi Chief Magistrate Francis Andayi for sentencing the three men to death. She said the ruling sends a strong message in the protection of women and girls in Kenya.

“Powerful ruling, robbery w/ violence/sexual assault, Githurai 3 sentenced to death. Strong message on protection of women & girls in Kenya,” Julie Gichuru tweeted.

Critics were quick to condemn her for championing justice for women and girls while she remained mum about women who were chopping men’s private parts.
