“People under the age of 40 should not get married” Husband to the late Janet Ikua explain why

George Ikua who was married to the late Janet Ikua, a cancer victim recently opened up about a few things concerning marriage while on an interview on Switch TV.

Mr Ikua who has had some experience in marriage went on to advice the Youths not to rush into settling down when young. According to him, couples above 40 are the only people who should be allowed to marry and start a family.

This is because by this time a person would have recognized the kind of responsibilities waiting for him; and how to handle marriage itself.

The Ikua’s

actually think people under the age of 40 should not get married. I think you don’t know who you are or what you are doing. I can tell you that when you start a relationship, there are a couple of languages that have to match and I’m not trying to be philosophical. The language of love and attraction, which many call chemistry is the first thing. You realize you click and connect, you even finish each other’s sentences, and you know you like the same things and excite each other. The feeling is like a high and we all know what happens when you are high on something? It’s not permanent. You can’t be high forever, there’s no drug designed like that. Please note that that is the first thing,”

Second part of marriage

Mr Ikua went on to add the importance of intimacy in a couple! Apart from the usual attraction – George Ikua made it known that attraction is as important to intimacy!

What is your understanding of intimacy and what is her understanding of intimacy? Also, what is your understanding of its importance in a marriage context? This is what we call the first marriage, the marriage of attraction and intimacy.

Away from that George Ikua also touched on the importance of understanding one another’s money language. To him most this enables one to know whether they are compatible or not!

In the second marriage, which is how you know whether somebody ticks the boxes is the language of money. Because while we can be compatible, if me as a lady I think you should bring a certain amount of money, I should manage the money you bring and most of this learning I have picked from my parents, neighbours or whatever TV show and we never talk about it. So you, you come put your money in the common kitty which you share, she doesn’t involve you, she goes and runs with it then you start saying she is a gold digger, yet, that’s her language of money.

Kanini passed on at the age of 38, she had been married for 9 years at the time of her death. Her husband George Ikua on Wednesday penned an emotional anniversary to his late wife.

“10 years ago today, on 7th March 2008 we wed and danced somewhere in Karen. I celebrate you Janee, everyday, and thanks for the ride, Happy Anniversary love. 10 vital lessons

George also shared lessons he has learnt after his wife’s death:

As I sit here reflecting on the journey that was and that is, I have come up with a few truths that I wish to share:

1. We are all potential widows or widowers, act like it today.

2.Marriage is about the two of you, keep the parents, siblings, friends and society in the audience, where they were at the wedding.

3. Learn to fight with your spouse, where you fight to stay not to be right.

4.Laughter is the magic glue, a good laugh heals a lot of hurts..and as they cackle over you will remember why you married them.

5.Create memories, travel by bus, cook her dinner, plant a tree, sing karaoke, walk in the sunset..whatever it is, this is all you will be left with when its all said and done.

6.When it comes to money, men treat her like your daughter, you don’t count what you give. Ladies treat him like your dad, you protect and grow it and I know you wouldn’t fleece your pops would you?

7.Be his or her number one fan, understand and fight for their dreams, career and purpose. Urge them to be their best version of themselves they could be…not your version though 🙂

8.Dating is the opposite of marriage, one is about you and how they treat you right…. and the other is about him or her , how you treat them right. How one precedes the other is truly a concept of Hollywood. In my view friendship should precede marriage.

9. Marriage is not about kids ,they are the icing on the cake. Dont say you are in it for the icing, enjoy that cake.

10. Take a good look at your spouse andif you cant wipe their puke or sh**t, you have a big problem. As casually as we say in sickness and in health a time a day is coming when you have to be their anchor when their body is broken.

Your spouse hate them or love them is the most important person in your life and today I wish you a happy X year X days Anniversary! One love.

“Good People”

(performed by Jussie Smollett & Yazz)

Sometimes it’s hard to pray

Sometimes it’s hard to stay grateful

It’s painful, hurts so bad

Sometimes it’s hard to breathe

It’s hard to keep goin’

We keep holdin’ on to what could have been

But we’ll get by

We’ll see the light

In the morning

It’s gonna be alright

The circumstance

Is in the plan

Even if we don’t fully understand

Why the bad things happen to the good people

Sometimes it’s hard to pray

I know sometimes it’s hard to be patient

Ooh I hate it

Yeah it hurts so bad

Sometimes it’s hard to believe

So hard to keep goin’

We keep holdin’ on to what could have been

We’ll get by

We’ll see the light

In the morning

It’s gonna be alright

The circumstance

It’s in the plan

Even if we don’t fully understand

Why the bad things happen to the good people

So much pain

It’s still a lesson

Sometimes it rains

It’s still a blessing

You never see the silver lining

In the cloud

And so you doubt it

You never know how much you truly have

Until you go without it

One day its gonna turn into another season

You’re gonna see that

All your tragedy

You had was for another reason

It’s just a temporary goodbye

So ya gotta keep ya head high

The rain is coming down and its pouring

But joy is gonna come inside the morning

But we’ll get by

(By)

We’ll see the light

(Yeah)

In the morning its gonna be alright

(It’s gon be ok baby)

The circumstance

(The lord got ya)

Is in the plan

(And I gotcha)

Even if we don’t fully understand why

Understand why,

Understand why,

The bad things

Happen to the good people
