Enough is enough! Ezekiel Mutua now looking for pastor Ng’ang’a

Moral cop  Ezekiel Mutua who is the CEO of Kenya Film Classification Board (KFCB) is now hunting for controversial Neno Evangelism Pastor James Maina Ng’ang’a following his recent viral clips.

Ng’ang’a has been trending now for several days and Mutua wants to have a sit down with him over his work.

“I have reached out to pastors who know pastor Ngángá, in fact, I am personally looking for him just to tell him that he didn’t come to where he is because of these theatrics,” said Dr. Mutua.

Extreme

He went on to say that pastors should be warned not to do anything extreme on TV because that looks like the direction they are headed.

“Our call was just a warning shot to say this drama may look popular, you might trend look popular and attract crazy people who will come to church on because they want drama on Sunday people are bored and they don’t want  boring sermons they want crazy person who plays guitar and sing crazy songs,”he said.

“I known Pastor Ng’ang’a he has even ministered to me, we share friends and I have nothing against him”.

Ezekiel Mutua urges Kenyans to ignore pastor Ng’ang’a and his wife: It’s an isolated moment of temporary insanity

Kenya Films Classifications Board CEO Ezekiel Mutua is asking Kenyans to ignore Neno evangelism church leader pastor Ng’ang’a after his recent rant.

According to Mutua, the pastor doesn’t represent the true clergy men therefor should not be given any attention.

“There are genuine men of God in Kenya who walk in integrity and preach the truth, but the media will not focus on them. They will have a field day with Pastor Ng’ang’a’s clip. That moment of insanity does not define the church. I know many good pastors who help the poor and conduct themselves with humility and dignity,” said Mutua on Facebook.

Rant

Nganga last week became a trending topic after bashing his pastors who have not been respecting his wife. The clip shocked many Kenyans who were quick to add that that’s not how pastors should talk.

“I am a product of such genuine, spiritual, caring shepherds. They got me from the gutter and gave me hope. There are pastors and Bishops who supported me when I had no title. They saw a future in me when I didn’t even believe in myself. When I was planning my wedding in 1997, Bishop Alois Rutivi of Gospel Assembly Church mobilised the entire church to support us.

“The Bishop and the entire church gave themselves to support our wedding. I was broke like a church mouse and was a junior reporter at the NMG. My mum had been in my house in Githurai for six months critically sick after a snake bite. My fiance was clearing her masters in KU. We had nothing to make Bishop Rutivi and the church be attracted to us. Yet, we were treated with respect and love and the Bishop preached life and blessings to our marriage.

He added:

“He never demanded anything from us even when our fortunes changed. There are many such wonderful men of God. We must celebrate them and refuse the narrative that Pastor Ng’ang’a’s expletives define our church leaders. That said, the clip is unfortunate. It’s an isolated moment of temporary insanity and should be treated as such!”

Akothee: What Ezekiel Mutua said about me was hate speech

Akothee recently revealed that Ezekiel Mutua’s “parting legs” criticisms on her was very unprofessional.

Mutua, the KFCB boss, took to Facebook to post a long scathing post about Akothee after she had an explicit performance that angered many.

Akothee said that Mutua’s post was more than just a look at her career but was meant to tear her down. Speaking on Mambo Mseto, Akothee said that Mutua should have used better channels.

“I’m actually happy when people criticize me you know, I’m able to differentiate between a constructive criticism and destructive criticism. Ya Ezekiel Mutua was hate speech, it wasn’t anything to do with criticism or anything coz at his age I believe he must be the age of my dad, if he really wanted to correct me I believe there is a professional way of doing it but again ukienda kupiga kelele huko kwa twitter,” she said.

Attention

Akothee added that Mutua is also an attention seeker and was looking to get her’s. And he did.

“He is someone looking for attention, for my attention. So I believe he was busy being entertained ni vile tu alikataa kukubali ni fan amekaa kwa corner flani hapo. About my fans huwezi kuwa mtu ambaye vitu zako zote tu ni correct,” said the Oyoyo singer.

Ezekiel Mutua refuses to apologize to Akothee even after Passaris’ push: It was cheap, immoral and demeaning

Kenya Film Classification Board (KFCB) chairman Ezekiel Mutua will not apologize to Akothee for tearing her apart over her explicit onstage performance.

Nairobi Women Representative Esther Passaris has defended the singer who has been in host soup since last week saying that Akothee is allowed to do it because she did it in the right vicinity. Passaris asked Mutua to apologize.

“You owe @AkotheeKenya an apology because you insulted her & called her demonic. She didn’t do it in a school compound or perform for underage children,” she said.

Immoral

Mutua on the other hand, said what Akothee did was too much and he’s even shocked that leaders think it’s okay.

“It’s cheap, immoral and demeaning for a grown woman to expose her private parts in public or gyrate for men in the name of entertainment. How sad that even our national leaders think it’s funny,” he said.

Akothee has been ranting for the better part of the week since the condemning started, trying to justify her actions. According to the singer, she’ll do everything to ensure that she gets paid and is living the life.

Ezekiel Mutua blasts Akothee for posting raunchy photos online: She’s talented but the filthy and stupids stunts she pulls to remain relevant concerning

Kenya Films Classification Board (KFCB) boss Ezekiel Mutua wants Kenyans to be concerned now regarding Akothee’s tendencies to remain relevant.

The boss took to social media to blast the controversial singer who posted a stream of ratchet photos online that ended up angering Kenyans in general.

Mutua agreed that Akothee might be talented yes, but her attention seeking tendencies should concern Kenyans at this level.

“Kenya has got talent but as long as we keep celebrating this kind of madness, our entertainment industry will never grow. Akothee is talented but the filthy and stupid stunts she has to pull to remain relevant should concern all of us. What’s worse is to see grown up men and women celebrating this scatological obscenity in the name of entertainment. We have lost it as a nation,” he said on his Facebook account.

Dirty music

Mutua, just like Tanzanian authorities that have been trying to regulate music there, said that Kenyan should understand music should not necessarily be dirty for one to be successful.

“People like Akothee cannot be the role models for our daughters. Music doesn’t have to be dirty to sell. How I wish artists like Akothee would know how much influence they have on our youths and try to use that influence to produce content that is edifying. This kind is crass, moronic and a theatre of the absurd. It’s demonic to the core and only appeals to debilitating and incorrigible perverts and brainless audiences. Akothee must stop this idiosyncrasy. There’s no dignity in this crap either for her or even her audience.” he added.

Ezekiel Mutua: Diamond is very much welcomed to perform in Kenya

Moral cop Ezekiel Mutua has no problem with Diamond Platnumz and Rayvanny performing in Kenya despite their ban in Tanzania.

Mutua, speaking in a phone interview, said that Diamond might have angered Tanzanian authorities with his song “Mwnaza” but in Kenya, he hasn’t done anything and so he can perform.

“We are Kenyans, we are not Tanzanians but they have been banned to perform outside Tanzania so it is purely their decision. Have seen the board has written their statement, they have banned them from performing even outside Tanzania. Their statement says they will jail them for life if they fail to follow the order. I don’t think I have anything to say, we are not Tanzanians and they’ve been banned by Tanzanian government, if they perform its their own business, I cannot arrest them because they have been banned in Tanzania , I can only arrest them with the laws of Kenya. ” Mutua said.

No offense

Mutua added that in case Diamond commits any offense while in the country, he’ll definitely get arrested.

”There is no issue, it is not me it is them But if they come here and commit crime in the event, we will deal with them with Kenyan law. It is not really our decision, we have nothing to do with it, whether they come or not, we are not involved in any way and can not stopped them from coming because of Tanzania. We can only ban them because of our laws here.” he added.

Ezekiel Mutua blasts Joey and 10 over 10 yet again as she hosts her last show on Citizen

Kenyans have agreed with Ezekiel Mutua that Citizen TV show 10 over 10 is promoting immorality and misleading kids in Kenya.

Joey Muthengi was on Friday hosting her last show after resigning and Ezekiel Mutua wasn’t happy. He took to Facebook to complain about the show yet again.

“Joey says to the cheering fans as she signs off her last on 10/10 that she is going to the club after the show. She’s of course dressed the part. These are the role models for our youth. Is it any wonder we have such scary rate of teen pregnancies? 10/10 has promoted immorality among the youth in Kenya probably more than any other program in the country. I am told last night it was scatological obscenity paraded on a studio that is for all intents and purposes a club and a live discotheque. The youths are mobilized from the ghettos and entertained wildly the whole evening, cheering madly as they are being sexually turned on by irresponsible show hosts and artistes,” he said.

Immorality

Mutua has complained about the show severally saying that it should be banned because of it’s immorality. This time round Kenyans agreed with him fully saying the show has a bigger and wider impact and is destroying the youth.

“Where do they go and what do they do after the evening of sexual arousal? Your guess is as good as mine. Although this show comes after the watershed period (past 10pm), it’s dirty and putrid. And the kind of rot aired last night is inappropriate and irresponsible given that kids are on holiday and likely to be watching.

“The intention of this show is to sexually turn on the youth. It promotes immorality and the sole purpose for airing it is not to promote music or entertainment. No. It’s a tool for sexual perversion and wickedness. I wish the owners of the station could use the frequencies to promote real creativity within the bounds of ethics. They can defy decency and regulations all they want, but one day we shall have a country where media houses are not platforms for promoting perversion and sexual immorality to destroy our youth.” he said.

People twisted my post to make me look like I hate gays – Ezekiel Mutua comes clean after Kenyans attacked him

The Kenya classification Board CEO Ezekiel Mutua is angry that people blew his post about Richard Quest attending to JCC to make him look like he hates gay people.

In two Facebook posts, the boss vehemently defended his earlier post hoping to show that he treats gays like normal people.

Rafiki?

This is the same Mutua that was also on the post for fighting lesbian movie Rafiki and ensuring it’s banned in Kenya.

Here’s the long post:

How can anyone twist my post on Richard Quest going to JCC church to say that I support gayism? How does anyone reach that conclusion from a straightforward post like this? I have stood firm against homosexual content even when it wasn’t convenient to do so. I have taken on organisations and people no one else would have dared to touch. When Nickelodeon attempted to introduce gay cartoons on one of the pay to view channels, I resisted the move and reversed it completely. No gay content on our screens and it won’t happen under my watch. But that doesn’t mean that I hate gay people. Far from it. I hate the sin, not the sinner. These self-righteous zealots throwing stones on me or the Kiunas should shape up.

“Richard Quest was in Kenya as a journalist and he did very positive stories about the country than probably any other foreign journalist. His visit to the JCC and interview with Kathy was within his journalistic work. About being allowed to speak on the pulpit or the ” holy madhabahu” as the hypocritical netizen terrorists call it, that’s the prerogative of the Kiunas. And I support it. You can bar him from your church but don’t dictate to others how they should exercise discretion, grace or judgment. I have never been to Kiunas church and we have no interactions. But I love them to bits. Anyone who can rise from the grass to where they are and conquer the odds of life to be who the Kiunas are is to be celebrated. If you think they fleece people, then don’t go to their church. But let me tell off the hypocrites who attacked the Sunday happenings at JCC: Your self righteousness is filthy rags before God. I don’t need blind followers who are ignorant and malicious. We can’t change the world by being so petty and narrow minded as to think Quest defiled the church by being allowed to speak. And on a more serious note, we must fight gayism from spreading in Kenya, but we should not hate gay people or attack them. I stated on this wall in 2016 that if a gay person applied for a job at KFCB and passed the interview on merit, they would get the job and be treated with dignity. There’s a whole lot of difference between regulating gay content and hating people. If anyone followed me here because you thought I hate gay people, please unfollow me or block yourself. I do not hate gay people neither should you. What would you do if your child became gay? Or it’s only children of sinners who are prone to such? We must be objective and deal with issues without using social media for hatred or blind populism based on religious hypocrisy!” he wrote.

Adding:

“On the gay debate again, and this is my last post on the subject, I reiterate that I hate the act, not the person. I have mentored a gay young boy for two years. I have kept his identity a secret and even when I feel I need more information and guidance on how to help him or deal with his issues, I have never disclosed his identity. Even my wife doesn’t know the name of the boy. I will let him speak about the issue himself at his convenience. Three months ago a friend called and told me of a gay person who was being evicted from his house for failing to pay rent. I bailed them out through my friend and I have been following on their progress. I have gay friends and friends of gay friends. Gay people are human. I will never agree on their behaviour nor support homosexuality. But I will never hate on gay people or join the mob lynch. Our work at KFCB is regulation of content. That we shall do in line with the law. At a personal level, my Christian faith abhors homosexuality. But so does murder, lies, jealousy, hatred and such other sins considered “dhambi ndogo.” I don’t hate gay people and what they do in private is none of my business. If I found a gay person in trouble or they asked for my help, I would help them, just the same way I would help straight people. I treat and will always treat gay people as human beings deserving of respect and human dignity.

That’s different from allowing gay content on our screens or allowing homosexuality to define our culture or be propagated as our way of life. I know there’s a spiritual dimension to this debate on homosexuality. That I deal with spiritually, but not by hating people who deserve love and respect. I always ask myself the question “What would Jesus do if He was in my shoes? My actions are guided by love. Even on the issue of Rafiki, I followed through with love. I had conversations with Wanuri Kahiu and other cast. Before banning Rafiki, I called Wanuri to our offices. I treated her like a VIP and served her tea.

We had a great meeting in our Boardroom and we made the law clear to her. And even after she betrayed us by going against our agreement to delete portions of her movie that glorify homosexuality, I have treated her with respect. The other day we bumped into each other in Zurich as we were connecting flights. We had a friendly chat and treated each other with respect. She’s in court over the ban. If she wins, we shall respect the law. This debate is that simple. Nothing personal!”

Please destroy that penis! Kenyans joke with Ezekiel Mutua after learning KICC was inspired by donkey’s penis

Kenyans took to Instagram to troll KICC and moral cop Ezekiel Mutua, begging him to ensure that the building is destroyed after learning that it was inspired by a donkey’s erect penis.

Social media has been a buzz lately after the designer, David Mutiso, shared on Citizen TV that the building is exactly as a donkey’s penis.

Funny

Kenyans took to social media to troll Mutua who has been fighting immorality asking him to ensure the building was brought down.

Though Mutua has not bothered answering, yet, the posts are just too funny.

Here’s what Kenyans said online.

‘A person of sane mind wants to watch girls having sex with other girls?’ Ezekiel Mutua burns with anger after court lifts Rafiki’s ban

Moral cop Ezekiel Mutua recently took to social media to curse at people who are happy that the court has allowed lesbian movie Rafiki to be aired locally.

The KFCB boss had banned the film but the court suspended the ban for seven days so that the movie could be aired locally and be submitted for the Oscars.

“So I hear the High Court has temporarily lifted the KFCB ban on the homosexual film “RAFIKI” to allow it to be screened for seven (7) days to fulfil the requirements for nomination to the Oscar’s. Although we have not been served with the orders, we are meant to understand that the lifting of the ban is for seven (7) days and the screening is RESTRICTED to ADULTS only. After 30th of September 2018 the ban by the Board resumes as earlier announced.” he said on Facebook.

He continued:

It’s a tragedy that anyone in their sane minds think that homosexual content is the one to market Kenya’s film industry in the global market. Films and art in general should reflect the dominant values of the Kenyan people. Homosexuality is not our way of life and is against our values. Anything that threaten or undermines the institution of family, which is derived from a union between two people of the opposite gender must be condemned.
The attempt to normalise homosexuality is akin to air-conditioning hell!”

Blame

Also on Twitter, the boss attacked NGO and other Western companies that he says are trying to push homosexuality to Africans. Here’s what he posted.

Ezekiel Mutua’s KFCB in trouble for banning lesbian film ‘Rafiki’

Wanuri Kahiu has sued KFCB for banning her film “Rafiki” and now wants Ksh 8.5 million in the lawsuit.

Also, in order to submit the film for the Oscar nomination which has a deadline of September 30, KFCB needs to lift the ban first. The movie needs to be shown in the country first before being submitted for the awards.

According to Kahiu preventing the distribution of Rafiki, the board violated several articles of the constitution that protect free speech and freedom of creative expression.

“If this matter is not certified urgent and heard on a priority basis, it would be rendered nugatory because Ms Kahiu’s film would be left out of the competition,” her lawyers Waikwa Wanyoike and Sofia Rajab-Leteipan were quoted saying.

Not an activist

‘Rafiki’ is the story of two young girls who have a romantic relationship but is strongly condemned and opposed by their families and community. The film became a huge controversy after Ezekiel Mutua, the CEO of the board banned it early this year. Wanuri said she’s just fighting for her creativity to be seen.

“I don’t necessarily consider myself an activist; I truly consider myself a storyteller,” Wanuri said on Sunday at the Toronto International Film Festival, where the film premiered in North America on Thursday.

“But when somebody starts to infringe on your rights to be creative and exercise your work, which becomes a problem. That’s when we decided to push back and take the Classification Board to court,” she was quoted saying.

Moral cop Ezekiel Mutua: Bishop Kiuna’s preaching made me cry. Reminded me when I stole bread and milk because of hunger

That moment when the preacher touches your soul and you feel like he’s talking to you. Do you know that moment? Well, Moral cop Ezekiel Mutua recently found himself in this position while watching bishop Allan Kiuna preach on TV.

On social media, the Kenya Film Classification Board CEO explained how he was touched by the bishop’s preaching which reminded him of his tough life while in campus in Nairobi.

Read the post below:

“Today in my hotel in Kisumu, I watched Bishop Allan Kiuna preach on K24 and I found myself kneeling beside my bed and shedding tears. The good Bishop was speaking about a heart of gratitude. He spoke about remembering the things God has done for us and why it’s important to always take stock of His blessings in our lives.

“I don’t know why, but the sermon took me down memory lane – the hardship of my early childhood, the pain of growing up in a broken home, the missed opportunity in life when I was young simply because I didn’t have rich parents or a mentor. I remembered how I came to Nairobi for further studies and how one day I was so broke and hungry, I entered Jack & Jill supermarket and ate bread and drunk milk without paying. The tellers and watchmen accosted me and started beating me.

“I shouted at them to stop beating me for I was “a child of a very senior person.” I demanded to see the manager or the owner of the place. When a nice looking Muhindi came I told him my story and that I was genuinely hungry. I told him that I had a great future and that one day I will not only shop in his place and pay, but that will probably buy the entire shop. He ordered that I be served whatever I wanted and be let to go.

“Today as the Bishop preached I cried. I remembered how in 1990 with very good points, Kenyatta University Administration refused to change my course from BA to BED, even after I went on hunger strike to protest the admission for a BA, arguing that my points allowed me to pursue Education, which was my second choice after missing the cut off points for Law.

“I remembered how my roommate used to tease me that I was pursuing “Bachelor of Anything (BA)”, and how I once failed in Critical Thinking unit by Prof. Wambari in First year and was almost referred, only to make a remarkable come back in Second and Third year and end up with a Second Class Honours. I remembered how I worked for the Nation Media Group for nine years but could not afford a car even when my peers were making it a sport. I remembered how I had to pursue my Masters almost 15 years after my first degree and how I had to struggle with my PhD at night and during weekends, almost at 50. I remembered years of delayed blessings na kuonewa. I remembered many things. . . .

“But I also remembered how God has been on my side through it all. I remembered the unmerited favour. I remembered the many times I have literally screwed up and could have gone under, but God held me. I remembered how He has rescued me from my enemies and prepared a table before me, in their presence. I remembered that I am not worthy to receive the kind of love that He gives, but He still loves me, anyway.

“I am a man of many flaws. There’s still stuff I need to fix in my life. There is still more to learn, more to do and more to achieve. I may not be where I wanted to be, but I am where God wants me, and that’s good enough. I am grateful.
Thank you Bishop for the word. It is still reverberating in my mind!”

Boniface Mwangi slams Ezekiel Mutua on Twitter after ‘socks’ condom advert criticisms

Activities Boniface Mwangi had some really sharp words for KFCB Boss Ezekiel Mutua after he took to social media to criticize the “socks” condom advert airing on most TV stations.

According to Mutua, the advert doesn’t meet the standard requirements of the board and should be stopped from airing during watershed period.

“Following complaints and concerns raised by a cross-section of Kenyans regarding the “socks” condom advert airing in most Tv stations during prime time, the Board today launched investigations on the matter and has established that the advert was not submitted for examination and classification in line with the requirements of the Films and Stage Plays Act Cap 222.” said the CEO.

It’s the second time he’s come out to complain about the advert that has also left many parents uncomfortable. He promised Kenya that the advert will be pulled down since it’s obscene.

“The airing of the advert is therefore in contravention of the law and the producers, distributors and broadcasters will be held liable for the breach. The Board has given instructions to its lawyers to proceed and prosecute the concerned institutions for the breach,” read his statement.

Blame money

Adding:

“These condom adverts do not promote safe sex or protection. They sensualises the product. It’s more of business than safety campaign.

KFCB supports sex education and the campaign for safe sex, but condom adverts, just like all other adverts must be submitted to the Board for examination and classification in line with the law. Condoms must not give misleading information or target the wrong audiences.”

Mwangi was not loving his take and fired back with some really piercing words.

Moral cop Ezekiel Mutua attacks 10/ 10 after hosting Akothee: It was a shame to see someone claiming to be a mother of 5 parade her nudity on TV

Moral cop Ezekeil Mutua was on another attacking spree after Citizen TV show 10 over 10 angered a section of Kenyans.

The Kenya Film Classification Board (KFCB) CEO, who is not a fan of the show, attacked Citizen for hosting Akothee and “letting her show her nudity while young kids watched”. On Facebook he blasted Akothee  saying that she could have been better.

“Since Friday night, I have received numerous complaints from TV viewers regarding inappropriate content on 10/10 on Citizen TV hosted by Willis Raburu. Of great concern was the segment featuring Akothee but some viewers also say that some of the audience appeared like underage children. It’s not the first time we are receiving complaints about 10/10 and the infantile behavior of the Show hosts. It was a shame to see someone claiming to be a mother of five parade her nudity on TV as the Show host cheered on and urged the young audience to cheer as well,” said Mutua.

He went on:

“Yet, apart from the allegations of having underage children on the Show, it’s outside the remit of the Board as it comes past the watershed period (5am – 10pm). Obviously, media houses have a duty to uphold morals and professionalism in their work, but we all know that most journalists in Kenya lack creativity and think the only way to popularize their programs is by airing lewd and obscene content. Willis Raburu is such one character. The Board has proposed a raft of measures to protect children from exposure to premature sexual experiences on media. Last week we had the chance to share this with the Senate Committee on ICT and we are hoping to meet their counterpart in the National Assembly in the coming weeks, after which we shall push for an amendment to the law, including redefining the watershed period. “

Adding:

“In the meantime, we continue to appeal to parents and adults in general to be responsible and guide the children on the kind of content they watch. Most of the challenges we have in society today, particularly the unrest in schools and bizzare incidents of homosexuality are as a result of the bad content kids are exposed to. It’s not just Citizen TV that’s a problem. We have issues with Churchill Show on NTV having a segment on children (Totos Corner), yet most of the jokes are of adult nature. Most media houses do not observe ethical standards and are out to make money at all costs. There’s need for concerted efforts to build a morally upright society. The media must set the agenda by observing the watershed period to ensure that content aired during prime time is suitable for family viewing. Let’s not trade our values for money!

Kenyan film director that Ezekiel Mutua trashed her work joins Oscars Academy

‘Rafiki” producer Wanuri Kahiu, a person that Kenya Film Classification Board and Ezekiel Mutua promised to take down after her LGBTQ theme film, seems like is not going any where but all the way up.

The popular producer has now joined top Hollywood personalities to become members of the movie Academy after being picked.

Invite accepted

Taking to Twitter, Wanuri Kahiu, who left many impressed during the 71st annual Cannes Film Festival held from 8 to 19 May 2018, shared that she’s officially a member.

This year, a record number of 928 people have been invited to join the academy. Some of the big-name actors include Daniel Kaluuya, Mindy Kaling, Tiffany Haddish, Kumail Nanjiani, Blake Lively, Amy Schumer, Dave Chappelle, Miles Teller, Randall Park, Daisy Ridley, Timothee Chalamet, Hong Chau, Emilia Clarke, Lena Headey among others.

MP Jaguar speaks after Ezekiel Mutua’s new law that has left creatives pissed

Singer Jaguar is now wears two hats after he was elected as the Starehe member of parliament. Kenyan creatives, especially entertainers, have been looking on to him to push different proposal in parliament that will see them make a living in the arts business without much hustle.

Recently, Kenya Film Classification Board announced that Filmmakers will be needed pay KSH 12,000 for registration and licenses, KSH 5000 for weekly upload, KSH 1000 for the days you film. A fine of 100,000 will be imposed if found Vlogging with a license.

Trash the bill

The proposal sparked outrage from Kenyans as many promised not to adhere. Jaguar has now addressed the issues saying that the law is a mistake and should be trashed since will kill the creative business in Kenya.

Here’s what he had to say:

Rafiki director Wanuri Kahiu hobnobs around with legendary US director Spike Lee

“Rafiki” director Wanuri Kahiu is enjoying the time of her life after her film was given a standing ovation in Cannes Film Festival.

Word also has it that the popular director has now been signed to Hollywood management and production company The Gotham Group.

“Wanuri Kahiu is a prodigiously talented and brilliant woman,” said Ellen Goldsmith-Vein, founder and CEO of The Gotham Group.

“As an advocate for Africans, especially young women, Wanuri has established herself as a major cultural force. That she refused to edit Rafiki in any way to avoid the Kenyan ban is a testament to Wanuri’s courage and commitment to her creative vision.”

Spike Lee

A moment with Spike

After movie was screened at the event, Wanuri and Patrician Kihoro were seen enjoying their night with popular US film director Spike Lee.

For those who don’t know who Lee is and too lazy to google, Lee is a legendary director that has made films such as “She’s Gotta Have It”, “Do the Right Thing.”  “The Original Kings of Comedy” “25th Hour, Inside Man, “Chi-Raq” and the upcoming film “BlacKkKlansman” that has been screen at cannes 2018 event.

Moral cop Ezeikel Mutua angered by mating wildebeests sculpture erected at JKIA

Ezekiel Mutua, the head of The Kenya Film Classification Board (KFCB) and a man who Kenyans believe is the official moral cop in Kenya, is not happy yet again.

This time round is because of a statue erected at JKIA which has two wilder beast mating.

Sexually suggestive

Mutua was angered by the sculpture which he called immoral. He called it thoughtless.

“This sculpture is bizarre and thoughtlessly sexualized. The sexual connotation depicted in this sculpture adds no value to the marketing of Kenya to tourists arriving or leaving JKIA,” he said.

“It’s the work of a dirty mind trying cheaply to sell their creativity. It is not different from the dirty minds who sexualize adverts on TV or on outdoor advertising.

The sculpture

“This sculpture would not lose any value if the animals were simply grazing in their natural habitation. The mounting aspect sends a wrong message and the sculpture must change,” he said.

Adding:

“It fails our suitability criteria for content or information meant for public exhibition. We should not allow such bizarre ads and marketing strategies that are meant to create unnecessary sexual innuendo. We need to sober up!”

“This is a discotheque on TV” Ezekiel Mutua’s statement about Citizen TV’s 10/10 show

Ezekiel Mutua, who is the chairperson of the Kenya Film Classification Board is back with another complaint. This time around it’s however not about an explicit song but a show which he says is a disco aired on TV.

In a statement shared on his Facebook page, Ezekiel Mutua criticizes and goes on to explain why the show is not fit to be aired on National Television.

With the statement below it’s quite not clear whether he plans on banning the show; but from the look of things, he might just have this in mind. Read the post below
