Why Eric Omondi is responsible for Ezekiel Mutua’s arrogance

Eric Omondi is only now beginning to realize that we were right all along: his kowtowing and bucking and jiving to impress Ezekiel Mutua has created a monster.

Eric Omondi Explains His Strategy To Impeach Ezekiel Mutua If He Doesn’t Apologize

First for some background. Eric Omondi has been the one entertainer who has borne the brunt of Ezekiel Mutua’s fury. The pocket tyrant seemed to solely focus all his angst towards the comedian’s show “Wife Material”.

Eric Omondi
Eric Omondi

And rather than find a new way to distribute the content or perhaps even move to one of the neighbouring East African countries to shoot it, your favourite comedian decided to bend over backwards to make amends with the resident pocket tyrant.

Eric Omondi Reveals How Much Money He Made From Performing in Tanzania’s Biggest Stadium

While no one can fault Eric Omondi for the decision he made, what has become abundantly clear is that I was right in warning that this would only embolden Bwana Mutua, the morality police clown.

Eric Omondi
We are now at a point where Ezekiel Mutua openly mocks artists and entertainers and tells them that their talent doesn’t pay. That really does show you the thought of lonely thoughts that crawl around in the man’s coconut. He is not predisposed to building but to tearing down.

Enough Is Enough! Eric Omondi Blasts Ezekiel Mutua For Claiming He’s Poor-Basi Wewe Ni Mwizi.

Bwana Omondi should have tried to unify some of his celebrity friends and they would have then taken their grievances to either their MP friend Jaguar or the Ministry of Heritage and Culture.

Eric Omondi

Ezekiel Mutua afterall, is merely a roadblock. A threat to our talented youth so that is something that I am sure Jaguar would have championed especially with us gearing up for the next election cycle.

‘Wife Material Itaisha Nikiwa Na Bibi Na Watoto’ Eric Omondi

And now Eric is left to fight this war seemingly alone as all the other celebrities hide behind him. And his idea of fighting our dear pocket tyrant has been for him to spread Ksh3 million on the floor and bed of a hotel room to show that he is infact making money

Great argument strategy. Now he will surely have to contend with KRA.

Why Embarambamba is a scapegoat for angry Kenyans

Embarambamba has been the whipping boy for Kenyans the past few days and even I have to admit that this is rightly so. He recently had a performance that was just straight bullshit for a gospel artist as he was caught on tape dry humping both a man and woman.

‘Embarambamba Ni Mchawi’ Ringtone Hurls Insults At Musician, Claims He’s Not A Gospel Artist

And while I will not spring to his defence because this is inexcusable behaviour, I am going to point out that Kenyans are angry at him in an extremely exaggerated manner and this is because Kenyans are cowards.

You see, in Embarambama Kenyans have an easy target; a scapegoat. Kenyans are busy dog-piling the gospel singer because he is easy to get at and attack and you can be as brutal as you want to be to the Kisii artist because he has no real recourse.

Video of gospel singer Embarambamba grinding on fellow man goes viral

You see, Kenya is a country led by the worst of men in our society. We have had rapists occupy office and work in the highest levels of government, we have also had people accused of organizing mass murder occupy the two highest offices in the land.

But we are more willing to completely destroy Embarambamba, a man whose only mistake is making a fool of himself and his fans. Let that sink in because it really just tells you how stupid we are as a people.

Embarambamba Explains Viral Video Of Him Misbehaving In A Club (Video)

One party was accused of mass murders. We celebrated them and elevated them to the highest office in the land. Their case was dismissed to lack of witnesses. Those are the people we paid gospel artists like Ben Githae to sing songs for them.

Embarambamba

And here we have a buffoon of a gospel artist. A person who has been thrust into stardom before he was mentally ready for what it entailed. And that is the man we are dog piling and crapping on. Embarambamba is that fool. And the only reason I can think of why we are being this harsh to him is that we are cowardly bullies.

Ezekiel Mutua and his people need to leave Embarambamba alone (NEW MUSIC VIDEO)

We should have taken to the streets countless times in the past to demonstrate the rampant corruption in Kenya. Like when our president (who I must say I think is so immensely competent, he is truly the universal beacon of leadership and integrity) openly admitted he doesn’t know how to deal with the fact that members of his government are stealing 2 billion shillings in what? A year? A month? A week? A day?!

Embarambamba

And yet it is Embarambamba that we are looking to cancel and destroy? And we are even giving the great bastion of intelligence, Ezekiel Mutua, a soapbox to talk down on the man who is making a fool of himself in hopes of trying to feed his family?!

Eric Omondi vs Ezekiel Mutua: it’s Kenyan creatives who have lost

Last week, we were treated to the running battle between Ezekiel Mutua and Eric Omondi being escalated to the point of Eric’s arrest as the former’s government perch at KFCB (Kenya Film Classification Board) finally came good for the purpose of his nursed grudge.

‘Mapastor wa Mpesa;’ Joe Muchiri tells off popular preacher while defending Eric Omondi

You see, Eric Omondi has been going back and forth with Kenya’s self-imposed moral police and busy body, Ezekiel Mutua and while things seemed to have died down, it is now clear that the moralist was seeking ways to legally frustrate the comedian.

Ezekiel Mutua
Ezekiel Mutua finally took his pound of flesh from Eric Omondi while pretending to be championing morals

You see, Eric Omondi has been riding a wave he created with his show, Wife Material. The show was in its second season when KFCB seemed to have come upon the random realization that he was shooting and distributing the show illegally as he had not gotten any permits.

End Of The Show? Eric Omondi Apologizes Over ‘Dirty Wife Material’ Content After His Release

The move read like some sort of low IQ soap opera plotline. Ezekiel Mutua had clearly nursed his grudge against Eric Omondi for an entire year and is only now acting after sharpening his blade. And the crazy thing is that the likes of Eddie Butita are clapping and cheering him on. I think this goes beyond simple schadenfreude and it has allowed Eddie Butita to harbour ideas that Eric Omondi’s hardships open a way for him to establish himself.

Eric Omondi, Shakilla
Eric Omondi with socialite Shakilla

Ezekiel Mutua is not doing all this nonsense because he found Wife Material vulgar. He isn’t doing this because of permits. He is doing this out of spite and to massage his ego. That is why He demanded an apology from Eric Omondi. What personal insult had Eric Omondi’s show sent at the man? Or, alternatively, explain to me why he and only he needed an apology when he argued that the show was bad for Kenyan society.

Eric Omondi should make Ringtone the next bachelor on Wife Material

Thing is, whether or not you care for Omondi’s show, we are allowing a pocket tyrant to nurse delusions of grandeur, the chains of which are often too light to be felt until they are firmly in place. Do you think Ezekiel Mutua will stop at Eric Omondi’s doorstep? Do you think Eric Omondi’s head os the only one this petty moral police will collect?

Eric Omondi
Eric Omondi with a winning previous show contestant

No! Such fragile egos as his demand that he keeps pushing the limits of his power and soon, he will even be trying to police thought. When I look at the man, I am reminded of the book 1984 by George Orwell. He is looking to make Kenya the complete dystopia. We have an economy in the doldrums. Kenyans are complaining about it online through the use of creative and humorous memes. What is to say Ezekiel Mutua will not go after such content generators?

Eric Omondi arrested over ‘Wife Material season 2’

Eric’s show was bullshit but it wasn’t on terrestrial media. It was online and had an age limit restriction. It could easily have been ignored. Just because I did not like the show doesn’t mean we forget he has freedom of expression and speech. By going after this inalienable right, Ezekiel Mutua has shown that he doesn’t care for Kenyan freedoms. We should be very worried that Uhuru Kenyatta in all his wisdom saw fit to give a man like him the reigns of power over an entire generation that was raised on the belief they had freedoms. Because should things go south, they will do so brutally.

Exekiel Mutua represents everything Kenyan youth dislike about the Government of Kenya

One word that best describes Ezekiel Mutua is “hypocrite”. He is everything that Kenyans believe to be wrong in our political class and especially with the Government of Kenya. You see, for the longest time, Kenyan youth have been indoctrinated into the belief that they are on their own.

“In a few years, you will be ashamed of your actions,” Ezekiel Mutua cautions Eric Omondi

There is no government assistance in a shithole country like Kenya and our grandparents realized this. After that, they taught our parents this reality and the generation after them, our elder siblings and younger uncles also learnt this and past on the wisdom to us. As a result, Kenyans no that nobody is coming to save them. It is up to us to create economically viable activities for ourselves.

Ezekiel Mutua
Dr Ezekiel Mutua

Granted, sometimes the youth do not take to legal economic activities to provide for themselves but that can be expected in a country where there is no real societal welfare program that takes care of the less privileged. So when I hear Ezekiel Mutua go after Kenyan artists who could have gone into the dark path of less savoury and illegal economic activities, I cannot help but wrech in disgust over the nausea-inducing vacuous utterances he makes.

“Are your parents proud of you?” Ezekiel Mutua calls out Gengetone group ‘Mbogi Genje’

You see, Ezekiel Mutua has been appointed the morality police and rather than talk about real issues that affect Kenyans such as the theft of money meant to buy Covid19 kits or PPE kits for our doctors and nurses. Instead of talking about the rampant, runaway corruption, this great man who champions the cause of keeping us morally in check decided to talk about Gengeton artists and Eric Omondi.

Ezekiel Mutua
KFCB Boss, Dr Ezekiel Mutua

I will not stand on some soap box and try to defend Gengeton. It is a genre of music that celebrates the type of fun that is easily accessible to Kenyan youth -sex. The lyrics are raunchy and often celebrate the sexual prowess of the artists and what they have gotten up to with someone’s girlfriend. It is an art form that celebrates debauchery too. Drinking and partying. At the end of the day though, it must be said that this is the case because of how we as a society have been socialized. These kids clearly learned this funk from society.

The rot inside Nairobi Diaries reality TV show exposed, call made for Ezekiel Mutua to ban the show (Video)

Ezekiel Mutua has gone after low hanging fruit and that is something that stands true to his character. A couple of years ago, he was accused of stealing prizes journalists were meant to be given in a story I read on the Star. So it makes sense that rather than address real, tangible and quantifiable moral degradation such as corruption and theft, he would rather wag his finger and tongue at young Kenyans whom he perceives as being easy prey.

Ezekiel Mutua
Kenya´s moral cop, Dr Ezekiel Mutua

It is with this dark cloud looming over his past and calling into question his integrity that forms the backdrop of this pompous low IQ moral police calling out artists who have found a way to make a coin off their talents rather applying his mind into providing positive criticism that also guides the recipient towards constructive directions they can take. What are they supposed to do? Turn to making gospel music? Afew of them actually have and at the end of the day, gospel music is dead. What else would Ezekiel Mutua have them do? Lay down their artistry and go pick up knives and guns to become criminals? What about becoming bodaboda riders? You know that will please him because Wanjohi and his kith and kin are currently working at cornering that market.

Kenyans should stop listening to celebrities on serious matters

Catherine Kamau is one of the many Kenyan celebrities who weighed in on the report about the fact that statistics showed that young Kenyan girls (teenagers and younger) had experienced an upswing in pregnancies.

“Where is the law” Catherine Kamau demanding justice for the 4000 pregnant minors in Machakos

And the first assumption everyone had was the fact that these girls had been impregnated by lecherous predators who had paedophilic relationships with the school going lasses. And indeed, this was the assumption Catherine Kamau pushed in her hot take on the matter.

kenyan celebrity catherine kamau

The problem, however, is in the fact that Kenyan celebrities have shown a propensity for discussing topics they have little to no knowledge about and topics they should probably interrogate rather than flying into a blind rage.

34 male minors and 4 female teenagers allegedly arrested during an orgy!

You see, when Kenyans are met by such statistics, they automatically run to blame paedophiles for issues that run deeper than just that. And don’t get me wrong, paedophilia is indeed an issue that contributed to these statistics of underage pregnancies but the truth is more complicated than that.

kenyan celebrity catherine kamau
Catherine Kamau

Sometimes, much to the chagrin of Kenyans, the people we should look to is ourselves. We as a people are responsible for the nonsense that happens in our society. These underage girls are exposed to the risk of underage pregnancy because of us and our culture.

Why Ezekiel Mutua blames Kamba musicians for teenage pregnancies in Machakos!

You see, when Covid-19 hit, schools had to be closed so we could manage the spread of that disease. As a result, we had children and teenagers running around their houses, neighbourhoods and estates. They were meant to be home with their parents. Those are the first people we need to look at.

The second issue we as Kenyans must fess up to is the fact that for better or for worse, these underage girls are in relationships. Whether their boyfriends are their age or older (I am not going to count the paedophiles in this group) the fact remains that they are having sex. That means we need sex education coming from the parents themselves.
For long, we have been inundated by complaints from teachers about the fact that Kenyan parents leave the raising of their children to them and this is proof of the fact.

“My name has nothing to do with teenage pregnancies!” Singer Katombi claps back at Ezekiel Mutua

But what happens when we listen to Kenyan celebrities like Catherine Kamau is that we tend to dumb down the problem and thus miss the real solutions. We immediately run to assume that their personal experiences (paedophiles or otherwise) are the rule for every one of these statistics. And that means we create solutions that miss the mark!

Kenyan celebrities such as Catherine Kamau suffer from the Dunning Kruger effect. That psychological term was coined in 1999 by then-Cornell psychologists David Dunning and Justin Kruger and it is a cognitive bias whereby people who are incompetent at something are unable to recognize their own incompetence.

What celebrities should do is to agitate for the government to actually look into the causes of this phenomenon while simultaneously calling for parents to get more involved in their children’s lives.

Ethic apologize for their new song after Ezekiel Mutua blasted them

Popular group Ethic has released a statement apologizing for their new song “Tarimbo” which has become a controversial topic.

KFCB boss Ezekiel Mutua led Kenyans by claiming the song was too dirty and advocated rape.

In their statement, the group apologized saying that they did not intend to be disrespectful even though the lyrics were negatively interpreted.

“As Ethic Entertainment, we are truly remorseful for any dolor caused by the lyrics to our single, and for every single person that was triggered to a displeasing memory or emotion by it, receive our sincere apologies. Rest assured that no disrespect was intended” reads the Tweet.

Community

They added that they did not advocate for rape because they are part of the community which supports them.

“…As artists, we are sons to our mothers, brothers to our sisters, uncles to our nieces and friends to our female friends and fans, and it is not in any way our intention to publicize violence or rape against these highly revered individuals in our community.” they wrote.

Why Ezekiel Mutua has banned Diamond’s Kwangwaru in Kenya

Kenya Film Classification Board (KFCB) Chief Executive Officer Ezekiel Mutua has banned mega hit ‘Kwangaru’  from being performed or listened to by school going children.

The ban, which comes way late, is the first among many to come as KFCB continues to clear the airwaves.

“That song has a bad meaning, we have banned it in schools,” the KFCB stated.

Mutua warned teachers from allowing students to listen to the song saying it corrupts their minds.

“Dances and discos must be regulated to ensure foreign artistes do not flock to Kenya to erode our values, cultures and tradition. Why do they perform music that has been banned in their countries to Kenya?” he asked.

Foreigners

The KFCB boss stated that he would ask the Ministry of Education to take action against school heads who defy the order.

It will not be business as usual, foreign musicians who are coming to undermine our cultures and values, children are singing for their mothers inama inama even in schools,” Mutua said.

Ezekiel Mutua refuses to apologize to Akothee even after Passaris’ push: It was cheap, immoral and demeaning

Kenya Film Classification Board (KFCB) chairman Ezekiel Mutua will not apologize to Akothee for tearing her apart over her explicit onstage performance.

Nairobi Women Representative Esther Passaris has defended the singer who has been in host soup since last week saying that Akothee is allowed to do it because she did it in the right vicinity. Passaris asked Mutua to apologize.

“You owe @AkotheeKenya an apology because you insulted her & called her demonic. She didn’t do it in a school compound or perform for underage children,” she said.

Immoral

Mutua on the other hand, said what Akothee did was too much and he’s even shocked that leaders think it’s okay.

“It’s cheap, immoral and demeaning for a grown woman to expose her private parts in public or gyrate for men in the name of entertainment. How sad that even our national leaders think it’s funny,” he said.

Akothee has been ranting for the better part of the week since the condemning started, trying to justify her actions. According to the singer, she’ll do everything to ensure that she gets paid and is living the life.

Ezekiel Mutua blasts Akothee for posting raunchy photos online: She’s talented but the filthy and stupids stunts she pulls to remain relevant concerning

Kenya Films Classification Board (KFCB) boss Ezekiel Mutua wants Kenyans to be concerned now regarding Akothee’s tendencies to remain relevant.

The boss took to social media to blast the controversial singer who posted a stream of ratchet photos online that ended up angering Kenyans in general.

Mutua agreed that Akothee might be talented yes, but her attention seeking tendencies should concern Kenyans at this level.

“Kenya has got talent but as long as we keep celebrating this kind of madness, our entertainment industry will never grow. Akothee is talented but the filthy and stupid stunts she has to pull to remain relevant should concern all of us. What’s worse is to see grown up men and women celebrating this scatological obscenity in the name of entertainment. We have lost it as a nation,” he said on his Facebook account.

Dirty music

Mutua, just like Tanzanian authorities that have been trying to regulate music there, said that Kenyan should understand music should not necessarily be dirty for one to be successful.

“People like Akothee cannot be the role models for our daughters. Music doesn’t have to be dirty to sell. How I wish artists like Akothee would know how much influence they have on our youths and try to use that influence to produce content that is edifying. This kind is crass, moronic and a theatre of the absurd. It’s demonic to the core and only appeals to debilitating and incorrigible perverts and brainless audiences. Akothee must stop this idiosyncrasy. There’s no dignity in this crap either for her or even her audience.” he added.

Please destroy that penis! Kenyans joke with Ezekiel Mutua after learning KICC was inspired by donkey’s penis

Kenyans took to Instagram to troll KICC and moral cop Ezekiel Mutua, begging him to ensure that the building is destroyed after learning that it was inspired by a donkey’s erect penis.

Social media has been a buzz lately after the designer, David Mutiso, shared on Citizen TV that the building is exactly as a donkey’s penis.

Funny

Kenyans took to social media to troll Mutua who has been fighting immorality asking him to ensure the building was brought down.

Though Mutua has not bothered answering, yet, the posts are just too funny.

Here’s what Kenyans said online.

Ezekiel Mutua fires back after David Ndii schooled him on morality

Can you really school the chief moral police Ezekiel Mutua on morality? David Ndii thought so.

The two recently locked horns on social media after Ndii criticized Mutua’s post which was talking about morality.

“Someone said: ‘The hottest places in hell are reserved for people who, at a time of moral crisis, choose to be neutral.’ I refuse to be neutral when the moral fibre of the country is at stake. I have no apologies for my stand. I believe I am doing God’s will. I am saving lives,” Mutua wrote on Twitter.

Ndii fired back saying morality and religion and two different things and should use Christianity as a way of judging morality.

“Morality is not synonymous with Christianity. Kenya is a secular state and your religion should have no influence on your job. You continue to demonstrate that education was wasted on you,” Ndii reacted to the KFCB boss’s remarks.

As expected, Mutua fired back in a long post on Facebook explaining to Ndii what morality is.

Here is what he said:

“How can someone like David Ndii say that I should not post about my faith because I hold a public office? So I should practice my faith in private but homosexuals can express their behaviour in public in the name of freedom of expression? What contradiction. What balderdash!
I am product of my faith. I have applied it in my leadership since 1988 when I was appointed School Captain of Tala High School. I was also the CU Chairman and led the school to the greatest revival both in academics and sports. I was a student leader in Kenyatta University in early 90s and when I joined Nation Media Group mid 90s everyone knew my faith.

I was elected a Chapel Father at the NMG on account of integrity, principally premised on my faith. My faith informed my marriage and informs my life as a husband and a father. My relationship with my parents in their 100s is purely a matter of faith. I live by faith. When the management of NMG contradicted my faith and values in 2002, I quit without having any other job. I was happy to lose my job but not my faith or principles.

I rebuilt KUJ from the scratch and made it a powerful body, by faith. When people introduced politics in it’s leadership I quit. I became director of Information and Public Communications principally because of my faith. I was promoted to become Secretary of Information in 2011, the highest post in the public service cadre, by faith. My academic pursuits for Masters and PhD were predicated on faith.

My being at KFCB is a matter of faith. Everything about me is about faith. I am not ashamed of the Gospel for it’s the power of God to salvation. Anyone who has a problem with this can challenge it legally. I would rather have nothing else but God on my side. You know a nation is in trouble when people who masquerade as intellectual disparage others on account of their faith instead of celebrating it.

Integrity is a moral issue. We can’t have leaders of integrity when we teach our kids to be ashamed of their faith. I wish my mentees to know that you can be a CEO and be proud of your faith. Invoking the name of God in our daily lives is not weakness or intellectual laziness. The fear of God is the beginning of wisdom.”

Cheki Maneno!  Ezekiel Mutua bans DJ Afro’s movies

Kenya Film and Classification Board boss has stop the airing of DJ Afro movies on a popular Kikuyu TV channel. KFCB boss Ezekiel Mutua took to social media to share that the body had to cut the movies from airing saying that they should be submitted for examination and classification for age suitability.

On Facebook he posted a bunch of pictures with Gikuyu TV’s management and DJ Afro discussing the matter and the way forward. For those who have no idea who DJ Afro is, this is just not an ordinary DJ.

DJ Afro

Examination

Afro translates and narrates movies making it easy for those struggling with English to understand what’s going on. He’s been doing it for over 20 years now. Mutua shared DJ Afro and Gikuyu TV will be submitting the movies first for examinations before airing.

“Today KFCB management met with the controversial James Muigai aka DJ Afro, his promoter and manager following our banning of his unpalatable content aired on Gikuyu TV and also distributed by unscrupulous business people and exhibited in public places without approval by the Board. DJ Afro admitted the illegality of his actions and took responsibility for the same while pointing out that the content being distributed and exhibited across the country is an illegal reproduction of his works done many years ago.

“It was agreed that the Board will communicate its position to the Ministry of Interior and Coordination of National Government to have the culprits arrested and the illegal material destroyed and that Gikuyu TV will suspend forthwith the airing of unrated material. All content generated by DJ Afro will be submitted for examination and classification for age suitability.”

Ezekiel Mutua’s KFCB in trouble for banning lesbian film ‘Rafiki’

Wanuri Kahiu has sued KFCB for banning her film “Rafiki” and now wants Ksh 8.5 million in the lawsuit.

Also, in order to submit the film for the Oscar nomination which has a deadline of September 30, KFCB needs to lift the ban first. The movie needs to be shown in the country first before being submitted for the awards.

According to Kahiu preventing the distribution of Rafiki, the board violated several articles of the constitution that protect free speech and freedom of creative expression.

“If this matter is not certified urgent and heard on a priority basis, it would be rendered nugatory because Ms Kahiu’s film would be left out of the competition,” her lawyers Waikwa Wanyoike and Sofia Rajab-Leteipan were quoted saying.

Not an activist

‘Rafiki’ is the story of two young girls who have a romantic relationship but is strongly condemned and opposed by their families and community. The film became a huge controversy after Ezekiel Mutua, the CEO of the board banned it early this year. Wanuri said she’s just fighting for her creativity to be seen.

“I don’t necessarily consider myself an activist; I truly consider myself a storyteller,” Wanuri said on Sunday at the Toronto International Film Festival, where the film premiered in North America on Thursday.

“But when somebody starts to infringe on your rights to be creative and exercise your work, which becomes a problem. That’s when we decided to push back and take the Classification Board to court,” she was quoted saying.

Moral cop Ezekiel Mutua: Bishop Kiuna’s preaching made me cry. Reminded me when I stole bread and milk because of hunger

That moment when the preacher touches your soul and you feel like he’s talking to you. Do you know that moment? Well, Moral cop Ezekiel Mutua recently found himself in this position while watching bishop Allan Kiuna preach on TV.

On social media, the Kenya Film Classification Board CEO explained how he was touched by the bishop’s preaching which reminded him of his tough life while in campus in Nairobi.

Read the post below:

“Today in my hotel in Kisumu, I watched Bishop Allan Kiuna preach on K24 and I found myself kneeling beside my bed and shedding tears. The good Bishop was speaking about a heart of gratitude. He spoke about remembering the things God has done for us and why it’s important to always take stock of His blessings in our lives.

“I don’t know why, but the sermon took me down memory lane – the hardship of my early childhood, the pain of growing up in a broken home, the missed opportunity in life when I was young simply because I didn’t have rich parents or a mentor. I remembered how I came to Nairobi for further studies and how one day I was so broke and hungry, I entered Jack & Jill supermarket and ate bread and drunk milk without paying. The tellers and watchmen accosted me and started beating me.

“I shouted at them to stop beating me for I was “a child of a very senior person.” I demanded to see the manager or the owner of the place. When a nice looking Muhindi came I told him my story and that I was genuinely hungry. I told him that I had a great future and that one day I will not only shop in his place and pay, but that will probably buy the entire shop. He ordered that I be served whatever I wanted and be let to go.

“Today as the Bishop preached I cried. I remembered how in 1990 with very good points, Kenyatta University Administration refused to change my course from BA to BED, even after I went on hunger strike to protest the admission for a BA, arguing that my points allowed me to pursue Education, which was my second choice after missing the cut off points for Law.

“I remembered how my roommate used to tease me that I was pursuing “Bachelor of Anything (BA)”, and how I once failed in Critical Thinking unit by Prof. Wambari in First year and was almost referred, only to make a remarkable come back in Second and Third year and end up with a Second Class Honours. I remembered how I worked for the Nation Media Group for nine years but could not afford a car even when my peers were making it a sport. I remembered how I had to pursue my Masters almost 15 years after my first degree and how I had to struggle with my PhD at night and during weekends, almost at 50. I remembered years of delayed blessings na kuonewa. I remembered many things. . . .

“But I also remembered how God has been on my side through it all. I remembered the unmerited favour. I remembered the many times I have literally screwed up and could have gone under, but God held me. I remembered how He has rescued me from my enemies and prepared a table before me, in their presence. I remembered that I am not worthy to receive the kind of love that He gives, but He still loves me, anyway.

“I am a man of many flaws. There’s still stuff I need to fix in my life. There is still more to learn, more to do and more to achieve. I may not be where I wanted to be, but I am where God wants me, and that’s good enough. I am grateful.
Thank you Bishop for the word. It is still reverberating in my mind!”

These are the most watched TV shows in Kenya according to a new survey from KFCB

The Kenya Film Classification Board has revealed a survey that shows a much needed in-depth look of how Kenyans consume media.

The survey, which was aimed at establishing what the Kenyan people think about the KFCB’s mandate and content classification functions, was officially launched at the Laico Regency Hotel and listed Machachari show (Citizen TV) and Churchill Show (NTV) as the most preferred programs on Kenyan TVs.

Statistics

The survey also indicated local programs are the most watched by Kenyan people at 64 per cent, followed by news at 20 per cent, third are soap operas at 12 per cent, fourth on the list are games and sports at 3 percent and last are cartoons at 1 percent.

“We regulate content at the creation, broadcast, possession, distribution and exhibition stages. KFCB is the custodian of Kenya’s moral compass at a time when we are continually bombarded by vicious content that reaches vulnerable children,” said Mr Mutua.

Adding:

“This survey will inform the policy direction of the Board in content regulation and will help us to map out strategies for effective and efficient stakeholders engagement. We will work with creators, distributors and consumers of content to ensure that content promotes our culture and moral values. We thank the Government for the great support and pledge our utmost dedication to our sacrosanct duty of protecting children from exposure to harmful content.”

Ezekiel Mutua sets the record straight: KFCB does not license online uploads

Kenya Film Classification Board CEO Ezekiel Mutua has come out to deny that online uploads will need a license as many believed earlier.

On Facebook and several other platform, the CEO made things clear saying that only public content will be changed.

“SETTING THE RECORD STRAIGHT:
. KFCB does not license online uploads
. KFCB only regulates content meant for public exhibition
. You don’t need a license for social functions like weddings or birthdays
. Public Notice targets film makers
. No new laws or policies on filming fees
. We rate and classify content in line with the law.” he posted on his page.

Adding:

“This law targets people who misuse social media. Innocent people have nothing to fear. But cyber bullies, cyber squatters and fake news dealers should be afraid!

Outrage after KFCB announcement that you will need a permit before posting videos on social media

You might be need to pay at least Ksh 5,000 before you post a video online after Kenya Film Classification Board latest announcement.

The board’s CEO, Ezekiel Mutua, who has quickly gone to a villain from a hero after the new announcement, insists that the laws will been put in place to control online chaos that has been affecting the world in general.

Filmmakers will now pay KSH 12,000 for registration and licenses, KSH 5000 for weekly upload, KSH 1000 for the days you film. A fine of 100,000 will be imposed if found Vlogging with a license.

Mutua has however denied that their will be a fine for vloggers.

“Where are people getting the information about Vloggers being licensed? We ran an advert and quoted the relevant sections of the law. Where in this ad does it mention that? KFCB is not charging anyone for You Tube uploads or Social media use. Absolutely not. Our interest is to bring sanity to the film industry by upholding the law as cited hereunder. You can not tell criminals from genuine film makers unless by ensuring that the genuine ones are licensed,” he said.

The announcement has led to a public outcry as creatives have come out to shun the government for killing talent.

Moral cop Ezeikel Mutua angered by mating wildebeests sculpture erected at JKIA

Ezekiel Mutua, the head of The Kenya Film Classification Board (KFCB) and a man who Kenyans believe is the official moral cop in Kenya, is not happy yet again.

This time round is because of a statue erected at JKIA which has two wilder beast mating.

Sexually suggestive

Mutua was angered by the sculpture which he called immoral. He called it thoughtless.

“This sculpture is bizarre and thoughtlessly sexualized. The sexual connotation depicted in this sculpture adds no value to the marketing of Kenya to tourists arriving or leaving JKIA,” he said.

“It’s the work of a dirty mind trying cheaply to sell their creativity. It is not different from the dirty minds who sexualize adverts on TV or on outdoor advertising.

The sculpture

“This sculpture would not lose any value if the animals were simply grazing in their natural habitation. The mounting aspect sends a wrong message and the sculpture must change,” he said.

Adding:

“It fails our suitability criteria for content or information meant for public exhibition. We should not allow such bizarre ads and marketing strategies that are meant to create unnecessary sexual innuendo. We need to sober up!”

Why Ezekiel Mutua wants this billboard pulled down immediately

Moral cop Ezekiel Mutua has cracked his whip yet again after spotting an issue that is not morally correct.

The Kenya Film Classification Board (KFCB) Chief Executive Officer spotted a billboard that has some offensive language and immediately ordered for it’s pull down.

Vulgar language

Mutua said that the billboard from insurance firm GA needs to be removed because of it’s language which is offensive.

“Adverts containing obscene images or language should not be erected in public places,” Mutua stated.

In fact, the rain might have helped GA a bit, otherwise the billboard would have been pulled down immediately.

“Were it not for the weather condition, we would have requested them to pull it down immediately,” said an official.

This is the ethnic song banned by Ezekiel Mutua for spreading hate speech

The Kenya Film Classification Board CEO, Ezekiel Mutua has come out yet again guns blazing to ban a popular song that is allegedly spreading hate speech.

The song, called “Ikambe”, is allegedly inciting Kikuyus against Kambas and Mutua has ordered the arrest of  Isaiah and Waharaka who released it on March 4.

“My attention has been drawn to a new kikuyu song by Isaiah and Waharaka titled “Ikamba” that mocks the Kamba community and castigates Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu” he said after speaking to SDE.

“The song is a primitive piece of art that contravenes the provisions of Article 33 of the Constitution on Freedom of Expression. It amounts to incitement to violence and hate speech.”

NCIC Chairman Francis Ole Kaparo launches investigation

The song has sparked mixed reactions from Kenyans as many more scramble to listen to it after the ban.

NCIC Chairman Francis Ole Kaparo has also launched an investigation on the song’s lyrics and has promised arrests shall be made if any one was found guilty.  The song has not been played on any local media platforms but is still circulating on social media as more and more Kenyans try to decode the lyrics.
