EMB’s Weezdom drops new track “Roba Roba” after long musical dryspell

Kenyans or rather gospel music lovers were in for a rude shock when Weezdom’s song roba roba was released. The artist signed under Bahati’s EMB record label has had a backlash from fans who didn’t shy away from expressing their disappointment in the quality of song and everything that’s related to it.

Some fans blame it on the poor management of the record label as well as the labels lack of interest in doing quality work as every record label is required to.

Remember  Weezdom had also left the label before returning and starting afresh.
The song is a raw deal especially for those who love gospel music. It’s a total waste of song as it carries little to no meaning. No words of encouragement, no praise or worship aspect to it.

Honestly its easy to say it is not gospel and neither is it good enough to be graded as secular.

Lyrics and video

The song is so short. It ends before the listener gets the gist of it. Besides the beat he only sings for 2 minutes There is a lot of repetition in it. The beginning of the song has this Lucky Dube kind of ring to it but then it shifts to Nyashinski kind of rap followed by a mixture of styles. It is not the conventional singing, neither is it rap.

The video lacks order. It features a mix of old school and kind of modern. Since the song doesn’t have a clear outline, the video vixens struggle with the dance choreography.

Well it goes without saying that the song was rushed and is of poor quality. EMB record label can do much better. Weezdom also needs to rethink his musical career and wake up from his slumber because at this rate he will be pushed out of the industry without him knowing.

Bahati says “Sakata” in new jam and its all about dancing to God

For a company that has had some shake-up after the exit of his main players, EMB records CEO Bahati has proven that he is not giving up.

As the year comes to a close the blessing of a newborn baby Majesty. He brings us a new jam dubbed “Sakata”.

Sakata loosely translates to Dance.

This seems like a dance song for praise with reference to Davids’s dance in the Bible that helped him acquire his Kingdom. At least that is what I got from the lyrics.

For every person at least we got to give thanks for all the blessing we got. No matter how small the fact that we are alive to this point is a gift.

Bahati

In this song, Sakata,  Bahati is doing a dance of Praise to God for the blessings all through the year. He says whether its rhumba ama dumba Sakata……

Further he goes on to brag about how blessed he is;

“Napiga selfie niposti nimeokoka Na nasakata hiyo Nina mapozi kijana nimeokoka Na nasakata hiyo,,,”

I mean Kijana Kaokoka. As much as I hold some opinion about this jam, Bahati has every right to brag about his God.

He, however, comes down to throw some shade to his “haters”.

He says, Wanaobonga hawajui nilikotoka Na nasakata hiyo Ni miujiza nione nimeomoka Apewe sifa huyo.
Clearly he still holds some grudges. But oh well, Life goes on.

In the meantime, all we can do is “Sakata.”

Video

In what looks like a promotional video, the dancers in this production can be seen dinning the EMB records Tees and Caps all through the video,

The locations are well selected including the slums. The Young Wallace directed song is good for dance.

However, the lyrical break down I would say is a bit shallow. We appreciate the colour and pomp in the video and the very clear message. But the repetition that carries the bigger part of the song can be annoying at some point.

For rating, I will go with 6/10. Your thoughts.

Rebecca Soki exits from Bahati’s recording label EMB!

Bahati’s recording label seems to be facing a number of issues judging from the number of artists who have called it quits!

First, Weezdom walked away without saying anything only to learn that he was allegedly forced out by Bahati’s wife; then came Mr Seed who also had beef with the Bahati’s for trying to get his wife arrested.

In less than a week, David wonder also packed and left saying that he had decided to work on his projects alone.

Anyway, word now has it that Rebecca Soki had also called it quits after some misunderstandings. Speaking with YMashariki presenter Ken Relbis; Rebecca’s manager, Papa Obong opened up saying;

Rebecca Soki left EMB as there was a misunderstanding between her and the label. She is now working on her own projects and hasn’t been to EMB records for the last four months. Rebecca felt played when she learnt that her song ‘Baraka Zangu’ was sampled from abroad and that really turned her off because she is very God-fearing and felt that using someone else’s beat is stealing. It was a huge turn off for her and in addition, there was a battle in the label as someone else claimed that the song was originally theirs,
