Former world champion Conjestina Achieng made a comeback to the ring on Sunday, attending a boxing match organized by former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko in Mombasa.
Achieng, who is popularly known as Conje, has been out of the ring for several years due to mental health issues. However, she has been receiving treatment at the Mombasa Women Empowerment Network, and she is now on the road to recovery.
Sonko said that he organized the boxing match to help Conje get back into the ring and to rekindle her passion for boxing.
“I am happy to see Conjestina back in the ring,” Sonko said. “She is a Kenyan icon, and she deserves all the support we can give her.”
Conje was thrilled to be back in the ring, and she said that she is looking forward to competing again.
“I am grateful to Governor Sonko for giving me this opportunity,” Conje said. “I am ready to fight again, and I am confident that I can win.”
Conje’s comeback to the ring is a heartwarming story, and it is a testament to her strength and determination. She is an inspiration to us all, and we wish her all the best in her future endeavors.
