Comedian Njoro’s father finally laid to rest (Photos)

Comedian Njoro and family finally got to give their late father his final send off this past weekend; and thanks to Njoro we have a few photos and clips from the teary event.

According to Njoro the comedian, he says his father succumbed to stomach cancer that had reduced him to almost nothing; and the fact that the cancer had been discovered late, all they could do is pray for God to reduce his suffering.

However about a week ago Mzee Njoro finally rested and was laid to rest this past weekend. Judging from the photos shared online, it’s evident to see that this was one heavy blow for the comedian and his family; however it’s easier now that their father’s suffering came to an end.

Funeral service

Since this was a family affair, only close friends and relatives were allowed to attend the funeral service.

A few of Njoros friends i.e MC Jessy, MC Tricky, Butita and his wife Mammito availed themselves for the burial; as a way to show their support to Njoros family.

Below are just a few photos from the funeral service held back at the comedian’s village.

See God! Comedian Njoro lands TV job weeks after leaving rehab

Comedian Njoro has landed a new job on KTN; where he will be hosting a show dubbed #Chama Show alongside Wendy Loyce. The excited comedian revealed this through his Instagram page where he made the announcement; leaving a section of his fans quite excited and prayerful about the new journey.

The good news comes barely 3 months after he was discharged from rehab following a few mental issues caused by stress. And judging from how most jobs were affected by the pandemic, I guess Njoro is not the only one battling mental illness around the world.

However unlike most who can handle the pressure life has been throwing their way; Mr Njoro may have needed professional help and through his determination – everything was able to get back to normal.

Njoro

New milestone

Well, as seen on the latest post shared by comedian Njoro we now understand that the young father of two is now part of the KTN group. This is after landing a hosting job #Chama Show on KTN – and judging from how funny Njoro is then I bet this show will be quite lit. He wrote;

Njoro lands new job

So far Njoro who has proven to be quite hard working; and seeing that he has already started making money moves means 2021 will definitely be a successful year for him.

Comedian Njoro’s public appeal for financial aid finally gets answered

Just a week after Churchill show comedian Njoro came public about 3 suicidal attempts, his dad’s tough battle with cancer and no job, Kenyans eventually landed him an opportunity.

Project Afya has now come to the aid of the financially-burdened comedian, promising to now take care of all his dad’s medical bills, giving him a big sigh of relief.

The intervention came just a week after the comedian publicly appealed to Kenyans for financial and mental aid that eventually attracted the necessary attention.

Kenyans came out to thank Zeddy for her kind heart, wishing her more blessings.

Take notes! Njoro’s priceless response to those criticizing his dress code!

Actor Njoro who is popularly known from TV show Papa Shirandula has come out to school some of the fans on the importance of prioritizing their needs!

This comes just a few days after actor Papa Shirandula was laid to rest in his Busia home. However, there are those who felt the need of criticizing Njoro’s dress code; claiming he is poor and has been struggling like most of the comedians we come to hear of.

Fans criticize Njoro’s dress code during the late Papa Shirandula’s funeral

Speaking during a recent interview, Njoro went on to open up saying;

Like right now, I have seen people discussing my dress code; yet they don’t know that there are things that matter.

What they however did not know is that Njoro is not the type of man who spends his money buying clothes! For him all that matters is investments.

He went on to speak to fellow comedians and artists urging them to live within their means!

The late Papa Shirandula with best friend, Njoro

My advice to fellow comedians and even artistes, just live your life and you will be blessed from there.

Now is the time

Njoro went on to add that instead of choosing flashy lifestyles then ending up in depression when they have nothing at the end should be enough reason to invest wisely!

You live flashy lifestyles when you are in fame and when you get into problems, you end up not having someone to talk to.

The wise actor cum businessman went on to conclude this part of his interview saying;

Once they are broke is when they end up wishing they could have invested well. When you are a celebrity, come back and invest in some business to do because comedy itaisha tu.

“Wameblock page yangu siezi post!” Zeddy exposes Churchill Show’s management for attempting to shut her up

Zeddy has been on a roll exposing the corrupt management behind Churchill show! For the past few days the female comedian has made it her project to ensure no other colleague of hers dies of depression!

So far we have heard Njoro’s side of the story and judging from his interview; many agree with the fact that something needs to change – but this will only happen when those affected speak up.

According to Njoro things have been rough on his side; considering the fact that he has not been earning for the past few months. With no job, no money…life appears to have made a drastic turn hence pushing him to ending his own life.

Zeddy blocked from her page

Speaking to Zeddy, Njoro revealed that he has so far tried ending his life 3 times; but he has never succeeded!

Zeddy in trouble with management

With Njoro already coming out to reveal what really happens after a comedian is sent home; it appears that the Churchill management has decided to either shut her down or shut her up!

Zeddy exposes Sleepy David and Teacher Wanjiku

According to Zeddy, she cannot access her Facebook as it has been blocked by someone she knows! Apparently this is not the first time that person is pulling such a move on a comedian trying to expose what happens at the show.

However having caught the attention of Kenyans who are interested in finding out the truth; Zeddy went on to ask for help hoping someone would know a trick on how to unblock her page. The mother of 3 wrote;

Niliwambia hawa watu si wazuri!wameblock Facebook yangu toka jana..siezi post chochote kama kuna Mtu anaeza nisaidia ntashukru sana ????uzuri tunajua ni nani ameblock, aliwai block fb ya Celeb mwingine ili asiongee ukweli.

Well if the alleged management is behind this, then doesn’t it make them more guilty now that they are blocking Zeddy from sharing her story?

This is why comic actor Njoroge cuts such a dejected, forlorn image in Papa Shirandula’s burial ceremony

An image of a popular actor captured at a funeral surfaced online, and it’s a picture worth a thousand words. It carries a lot of emotion. It’s probably the only image of the comical actor taken out of character.

This actor is Kenneth Gichoya, popularly known as Njoroge, or Njoro in the Citizen TV Show, Papa Shirandula.

In this image, Njoroge is clearly an emotional wreck, and it’s easy to understand why. He’s sending off Papa Shirandula – a friend of many years, a mentor and whose on-screen chemistry was almost tangible. The pair have been in the Papa Shirandula show – titled around the departed actor’s persona – for a whopping 13 years. That’s not an easy feat.

Just why did Njoroge seem so shattered?

The fallen icon has been instrumental in the actor’s career growth from the early days. He feels like an orphan.

Njoroge was born as Kenneth Gichoya, in a sleepy section of Kirinyaga County called Gichugu. He has a record breaking tally of primary schools he attended – 7 primary schools! This gives a hint of quite a wild spirit. He did tone down, though, later in high school. Njoro is an alumni of Baricho High school which recently got upgraded to a national school status.

With his onscreen persona, it’s forgivable to believe he called it quit after that, but Njoro holds a Mass communication diploma from East African School of Media studies.

Kenneth Gichoya’s passion for the stage started in high school, and he’s pursued it ever since. The sly, mischievous cunning roles he lands nowadays – especially his role as Njoroge on the Papa Shirandula Show – have a thing with his past.

In the annual high school Christmas musicals, Njoroge would always be cast as the betraying Judas Iscariot. He amusedly tags this uncanny trait to his cunning facial features!

What drives the actor?

Njoroge refers to an episode in his childhood that remains a constant driving force. And as is common with many public figures of note, it’s a humble background. The actor at one point lived with his mother in a single rental room, and all they had was a charcoal jiko and a thin, bare-thread mattress.

One day, the landlord comes over to evict them for arrears owed. The man notices the bare room and asks why they had started to move out – on which the hapless mother says those are their entire belongings. It’s a sad tale.

Njoroge’s acting career broke its teeth at the Kenya National Theatre, and this is where he met the iconic, burly actor Charles Bukeko. They’d moonlight as stage spare casts, props and occasionally headline one or two shows. The pair then got into the travelling theatre showcasing high school literature set books.

Papa Shirandula’s star had started to shine in 1997, when he landed a major deal with Coca-Cola, in the iconic BRRRRR Coke advert. Since then, he never looked back.

What’s more important is that Papa didn’t leave his friend in the trenches – Njoroge. When the self-named Papa Shirandula Show premiered, the main actor did his pick of the cast, and Njoroge was his first choice. They’ve ridden that train together for more than a decade.

Over time, the pair developed a friendship beyond the stage and screen. Their families know each other, and share holidays. They’ve travelled for events and corporate functions.

For the comic Kenneth Gichuhi, Papa Shirandula was more than a uniformed, baton-wielding guard living a double life. He was a mentor, a colleague. Papa was family.

It’s understandable then, why Njoroge seems like a man whose heart has been ripped out.

“We couldn’t afford Ksh 300 for rent!” Comedian Njoro opens up about his humble beginnings

Churchill shows comedian George Maina popularly known as Njoro did not have it easy while growing up.

In a new interview with SDE Njoro went on to open up about his family life like never before. Njoro says he grew up with his 5 siblings in Nakuru at area known as London.

Njoro

Despite having very hard working parents, life was often hard and this is what taught him to be ambitious. He says his father worked at a construction site while his mother sold tomatoes just to ensure their children did not go hungry.

However, the money they made could not sustain them and often got locked out of their home as they could not afford Ksh 300 rent.

“I was born and raised in an area known as London where our house rent was a meagre Sh300 but my family was often locked out due to lack of rent.”

Struggled in school

He went on to add that getting through primary school also proved to be hard since he also lacked school fees.

“On top of this, my primary school fee was also Sh300, but would often be sent home because we could not pay. My mother Jacinta Wahu sold tomatoes while my dad, a casual labourer at a construction site, struggled hard to take care of the five of us,”

He went on to add that he got his funny character from his dad who is one hilarious man. Njoro also says most of his jokes are real life experiences while others are from his creativity.

“I write about my life experiences, things that interest me in relation to Kiambu, where I live. If an unusual set of circumstances arises or I learn something that I can’t stop thinking about, chances are I will try to write a joke about it. My father’s funny side of life is my second inspiration. He is one person who has always been real and funny at the same time. I write my own routines,”
