Every so often artists are told to try out different styles/musical approaches if they want to remain relevant and after so many years, Kenyan rapper Timothy Owuor, alias Timmy Tdat has finally heeded the advice.

The Dus Nyau hitmaker has teamed up Ugandan dancehall singer Beenie Gunter on a new jam dubbed Uptown Girl and it’s getting a lot of love from their fans.

Well, the track is about a lass who is driving the musicians because she’s so damn beautiful. I know you’re wondering what is new here since the two, especially Timmy, are always singing about women.

One of the things that makes it different for Timmy is the vibe of the song. It leans towards ragga/dancehall and a bit of traditional Uganda rhythms and as you all know, he is new to these genres.

Surprisingly, he really came through. Seriously though, when has he ever disappointed us? Timmy’s style blends well with that of Beenie Gunter so much so that you will retain this song on your playlist for a very long time.

The beat did not affect his flow though I must admit that at some point, I found it strange that he was rapping to this kind of beat. Notably, Beenie Gunter also did a good job.

I have some concerns about the video because I didn’t like the execution. As I was watching it, I kept wondering why the director decided to centralise it in one particular scene yet there are beautiful shots that he could have taken.

‘Amarula’ hitmaker Roberto makes a huge comeback with ‘Nomo’ alongside Beenie Gunter (Video)

Award-winning Zambian R&B singer Robert Banda, better known as Roberto, has been featured by Beenie Gunter in his latest track and it’s a big tune.

The jam dubbed Nomo, which is a corruption of the words no more, has been topping continental charts since it was released a few days ago and to be honest, we are also feeling it. Like, really!

Basically, this song is about two people who were once in a relationship. While the guy was serious, the lady was busy playing games As such, he decided to end it.

When the lass realized that he was serious about leaving, she started taking their relationship seriously but the guy is no longer feeling her vibe because he doesn’t want to be with her anymore.

I really love this song ladies and gentlemen. I have listened to it a couple of time since it came out and every time it’s like I am hearing it for the very first time. Yup, it is that good!

I don’t know about you but I strongly feel that Beenie Gunter and Roberto – who is famed for his Amarula hit – are a perfect match because their styles complement each other.

Each of then has something different to offer and perhaps that the reason why this song slaps so hard. One one hand, Beenie Gunter gives this jam a dancehall feel while on the other Roberto softens it with his smooth vocals.

The beat and instrumentation on this song were also on point. From the moment you hit the play button you already feel like something good is coming your way.

I also loved the video. It gives you life as you watch it, especially the scenes that have the ghetto kids dancing. Props to the videographer.
