Irene Uwoya summoned by BASATA after ‘making it rain’ on journalist

Tanzanian actress Irene Uwoya has been summoned by BASATA (Baraza La Sanaa Tanzania) following her recent act of throwing money to journalists.

Uwoya “made it rain” with money during a press briefing recently and some were not happy. She almost caused a stampede at Hyatt Regency on Monday, July 15 after she started throwing money to journalists after a press conference.

Explanation

According to Global Publishers, BASATA ordered the controversial actress to avail herself at its offices on Wednesday, July 17.

We are not sure what disciplinary measures will be taken but the authority wants her to answer questions on why she caused a commotion during a recent press conference.

The summon comes just hours after the actress offered a public apology on social media saying that she didn’t mean any harm when she threw the money.

Rayvanny’s girlfriend says she was worried about their future after he got banned by BASATA

Tanzanian singer Rayvanny’s girlfriend Fahyma ‘Fahyvanny has revealed that Baraza la Sanaa la Taifa’s move to ban Rayvanny and his boss Diamond Platnuzm from performing and recording any music left her disturbed and scared.

Speaking in an interview with a local newspaper, Fahyma said that after Rayvanny was banned for performing “Mwanza”, she was worried how they’ll survive since music is their main source of income.

“Kufungiwa kwa Rayvanny kulikuwa kunanipa mawazo sana maana nilikuwa nawaza maisha yetu yatakuwaje na tulikuwa hatujui msamaha utatoka lini lakini tunashukuru Mungu wamesamehewa na mwisho wa siku maisha mengine yanaendelea, nitaendelea kumhimiza asirudie kosa tena”. she said.

Ban lifted

Baraza la Sanaa la Taifa (BASATA), which left the ban just a few days ago, had banned a couple of their songs, particularly the collaboration with Rayvanny titled ‘Mwanza’ which was regarded immoral and not fit for Tanzanians’ consumption.

Basata finally lifts ban on Diamond and Rayvanny, the two hit studio immediately to drop new hit

Singer Diamond Platnumz and his employee Rayvanny have been allowed by Baraza la Sanaa ya Taifa (Basata) to resume recording music.

Diamond and his Wasafi camp were suspended from recording music or doing any shows in and out of the country by the authority after they performed “Mwanza” which the body had already banned for explicit content.

In a letter, Basata said Wasafi label can return to recording music but will be closely monitored them after their recent ban.

Thankful

Taking to social media, Diamond Platnumz thanked the authority for lifting the ban and giving them a chance to get back to making music. Minutes after the ban was lifted, Diamond called Rayvanny for a studio session at his home.

“Shukran sana sana Wizara yetu, Baraza letu la @basata.tanzania , Viongozi wote na Serikali kwa Ujumla…..  BASATA warns singer Diamond: Don’t try and perform in Kenya unless you want more trouble

Things are not looking good for Diamond Platnumz, his team and their scheduled performances set to take place in several counties in Kenya.

Despite Diamond’s manager recently promising that the shows set to happen in Embu, Nairobi and Mombasa will take place, Basata acting chief executive officer Onesmo Kayanda has warned the singer not to try and perform.

The Law

The body has banned the singer from performing in and outside Tanzania after he performed “Mwanza” which was initially banned by the body. The body has also canceled the Wasafi Festival. Diamond is scheduled to have three shows in Kenya; that’s in Embu on December 24, Wasafi Festival in Mombasa 26th and on New Year’s Eve in Nairobi.

“Sisi Basata we are the substitute of the government. Kama akiamua hivyo (perform in Kenya), hii kanuni ya Basata huwa inakuwa ni substitute ya sheria za nchi na akiikaidi lile suala linakuwa la kijinai. Likishakuwa la kijinai linakwendwa kwa Mwanasheria Mkuu wa serikali sisi tunawakabidhi mahakamani. Kwa hiyo mtu akikuika kanuni zetu za Basata, amevuka na kwenda kwenye ishu ya kijinai,” said Onesmo Kayanda.

Diamond’s manager Babu Tale, shared in an interview that they are working on getting the ban lifted and hope that Diamond will hit the stage soon.

Diamond and Rayvanny pay dearly for defying Basata… banned from performing in and out of Tanzania

Diamond, Rayvanny and Wasafi were jointly been fined Tsh 9 million or Kes 403,197 after they dropped controversial song ‘Mwanza’.

Tanzania’s music regulatory body Basata also banned ‘Mwanza’ from being played on radio, TV, nightclubs, concerts or on any media in Tanzania.

Diamond and Rayvanny however defied Basata ban and went on to perform ‘Mwanza’ during Wasafi festival at the lakeside city of Mwanza on Saturday December 15th.

Basata hits back

Basata has since responded by banning Diamond and Rayvanny from performing on any show or organizing any concert in and outside Tanzania effective Wednesday December 19th.

The decision by Basata puts Wasafi Festival in jeopardy, Diamond and his crew were supposed to perform in Mombasa and Nairobi on December 26th and 31st respectively.
