Felix Orinda alias DJ Evolve has been bedridden since 2020 following the B Club incident where politician Babu Owino shot him leaving him paralyzed. As you know he has had several surgeries hoping that one day he will fully recover to his old self.

Last we checked Politician Babu Owino had convinced Evolve’s dad, John Orinda to have the case settled out of court; and from the look of things- the agreement seems to be working just fine.

With good medical finances and upkeep money coming in from Babu Owino, Evolve has been making progress and thanks to his dad we now understand he is learning to sit on his after months of therapy and home care.

DJ’s father shares update

Speaking on his son’s current condition – John Orinda revealed that apart from sitting, DJ Evolve has started to feel his legs….a good sign that shows his nerves are still active and in the end – he might just walk like he used to.

He is doing well but is still living an assisted life. He is also starting to feel his legs but he cannot walk yet.

About Babu Owino, the DJ’s father had nothing but praise for all the help he has giving them and his commitment to have DJ Evolve back on his feet.

He is still helping; he has been arranging for my son’s treatment. Anything I ask of him, he does without raising questions.

The update comes just a few weeks to marking their late mum’s Mama Mary first anniversary since her demise.

Baba DJ Evolve denies dropping son’s case against Babu Owino for money

John Orinda who is DJ Evolves dad has come out to speak after rumor had it that he traded his son’s case against Babu Owino for money. From what people are saying is that Evolve’s dad settled for the money and not justice for his son; but again, he says many will not understand.

Speaking to Standard Digital, Mr John Orinda denied the allegations saying he is a Christian man who wouldn’t accept any bribe; but having sat down and discussed a more thoughtful settlement – he opted to accept the help offered by Owino and his team. He said;

I hear some people claiming that I exchanged my son’s case for money. What do people take me for? A callous man who would sell his son’s welfare the way a farmer would sell his goat at the market? I am a Christian, and my conscience wouldn’t allow me to do that.

My son comes first – John Orinda

According to Mr Orinda, he is aware that most people would have preferred having Babu Owino behind bars; but that wouldn’t have benefitted his son in any way – that is in terms of medical bills, movement and even where he resides.

The fella who recently lost his wife following some complications, explained himself saying;

I know there are people who would wish to see Babu Owino in jail. But, what would we gain if he is sent to prison and my son dies?

Hours after Senior Principal Magistrate Bernard Ochoi announced that DJ Evolve had dropped his case against Babu Owino; the politician has now opened up in a detailed post aimed at thanking Wvolve for the kindness.

As seen on the statement issued online, Babu Owino thanked the court for allowing both him and Evolve to solve their issues out of court. He also went on to applaud DJ Evolve for making the right decision (despite the pressure from the public) and for standing for what he believes is right.

STATEMENT

DECEMBER 16, 2021

GOD IN IT.

I welcome the recent decision of the Senior Principal Magistrate Bernard Ochoi in which the court allowed DJ Evolve and I to resolve matters while embracing Alternative Dispute Resolution. I thank the court for being bold enough to uphold the restorative principles of Justice enshrined in the Constitution of Kenya 2010.

Praises Evolve for bravery

The case being of public interest, Babu Owino is aware that many would have preferred seeing him behind bars; but thanks to his close friend, DJ Evolve – this will never befall on the Embakasi East MP.

Thanking DJ Evolve for being fair, Babu Owino went on to add;

DJ Evolve is a brave and inspirational young man. I remain indebted to him for the gracious manner in which he has carried himself during this obviously challenging time.

As for those who were not aware of the relationship Babu Owino and DJ Evolve had before the incident; the MP updated them saying;

We were close friends and have become even closer through this Damascus moment and I am committed to honoring my part of the agreement.

DJ Evolve to withdraw case against Embakasi East MP, Babu Owino

Word making rounds social media is that Felix Orinda also known as DJ Evolve, has requested his case against Embakasi East MP Babu Owino withdrawn.

In a letter written by DJ Evolve and his lawyers, the young man asked for the case to be withdrawn in order for him to concentrate on his health. The popular DJ went on to add that this decision had been made by both him and his family.

As for now all he wishes is to continue receiving good treatment hoping to bounce back again.

DPP asks fore more time

However the DPP told the court that they needed more time to access DJ Evolves mental health status. This is however after DJ evolve and his family came to this sudden decision.

The DPP however requested for the court to allow them to proceed with the attempt murder case against Babu Owino.

There is hope at the end of the tunnel after a Nairobi court this morning ordered the DPP, DCI and the media to stay away from interfering with the pending DJ Evolve-Babu Owino case that has been a matter of public interest.

This comes just weeks after DJ Evolve was discharged from hospital before the media reached out to him to get his side of the story, that only opened doors for interested parties to come in and mess up the facts to the story.

On this note, Wednesday, July 8, the court forbade the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and the media from engaging in talks regards the Babu Owino-DJ Evolve case.

Further stating that come August 11, the matter will be mentioned to establish whether DJ Evolve has since been in a position to record a statement.

The clash

However, Babu Owino was not a satisfied man after stating – through his lawyer Cliff Ombeta – before Milimani Senior Principal Magistrate Bernard Ochoi, that the DPP has been exceeding his limits.

This is after the DPP allegedly incited Embakasi East residents and other willing Kenyans to come out in a bit to oust him from his parliamentarian seat.

Babu Owino demands immediate apology from NMG over viral DJ Evolve interview (Details)

Nation Media Group is now having it rough after Embakasi East MP, Babu Owino took legal action against them for their explosive DJ Evolve interview that since went viral.

In a letter seen by Ghafla, addressed to NMG from Babu’s lawyers, Okatch & Partners Advocates, their client considered the exclusive news story as defamatory and ill-founded.

An exclusive news story that headlined: “DJ Evolve speaks of life after being shot by Babu Owino.”

Allegations

According to the MP’s lawyers, there was no one point that the DJ, Felix Orinda stated that he was shot by their client.

In fact, even before your news item, the said Felix Orinda has never ever stated in any forum whatsoever that he was shot by our client.

NTV’s story therefore gave the lawyers the impression that they were out to “attack, accuse, persecute, reprimand, convict their client in the eyes of the public.”

Further stating that the station had seemingly told the public that Babu took plea on the two charges leveled against him, while it is instead, actually an ongoing case.

Your story as introduced and aired, thus directly infringes on our client’s constitutional rights to a fair hearing and tried to render the process of hearing irrelevant as you have (without any mandate whatsoever) already prosecuted, convicted and reprimanded our client.

Adding:

The alleged CCTV footage you also aired in the story has not been admitted as evidence by a Court of Law to allow you to rely on it in your malicious story in the manner you so did.

A story that was also published in the Nation newspaper’s front page on July 1, titled: “As victim waits for justice, his life goes on.”

Demands

To this effect, Babu Owino, born Paul Ongili’s lawyers stated “if we do not hear from you within Two (2) days from the date of this letter, we have strict and peremptory instructions to institute legal proceedings against you for slanderous and libellous defamation.”

The letter went ahead to indicate that this was not the first time the media house had tried to turn the public against the legislator. Therefore painting the picture that NMG was out to completely destroy Babu’s political career.

The letter’s demands in part, were that: “an appropriate apology addressing their exclusive story be published and broadcast on their platforms, while admitting liability for the slanderous libellous statements after which damages incurred will be addressed.”

Why DJ Evolve’s case might take time before getting justice

Tuesday, June 30, Kenyans came out in huge numbers, protesting against the injustice by Embakasi East MP, Babu Owino on recuperating Disk Jockey Evolve, born Felix Orinda.

This was occasioned by an interview of the entertainer, bed-ridden with his lower torso paralyzed, by NTV that since went viral and left Kenyans disgusted by the inefficient Law.

However, soon as public protests and signing of an online petition kicked off, the Office of the Directorate of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) announced that Evolve’s case was not going to go anywhere, at least not now.

Reasons

According to the National Prosecuting Authority, “prosecution of Babu Owino had been slowed down by DJ Evolve’s inability to record a statement”.

According to the IO report, the victim is paralyzed and has a speech impediment making it very challenging to record his statement.

Further stating that an investigating officer had since followed up on the case after the entertainer’s heartbreaking story but unfortunately found him in a bad state.

To this effect, the ODPP had arrived at a decision to first halt the process until the victim was in a better place to be part of the extraneous process.

However, the office was quick to indicate that it had tried its best in opposing the kind of judgement that had been passed on the controversial parliamentarian. But never succeeded in doing so.

Adding that the matter had been set for mention on March 20, but got interrupted by the Covid-19 government measures regarding court operations.

The viral case of DJ Evolve’s subjection to bed imprisonment after a fatal shooting incident in January this year, has attracted legal action against the Embakasi East MP who is currently a free man.

Tuesday morning, the Internet erupted as Kenyans came out to demand for justice of a bed-ridden DJ Evolve and his family following his tear-jerking interview with NTV last evening.

This has seen Advocate of the High Court, Robi Chacha take a step into kicking out the controversial legislator out of his office for misusing his power to do as he pleases to the common mwananchi.

The lawyer sought to garner support both from Embakasi East constituents and any other interested citizens in advocating for the possible impeachment of Babu Owino.

He promised to draft a petition for the ousting of Babu Owino but only if he is able to garner impeachment votes from 30% of Embakasi East constituent and 15% from any other Kenyans outside the constituency.

Anyone here who is registered voter in Embaskasi East? I am willing to draft a petition for the removal of Babu Owino as MP as per Article 104 & the Elections Act. I’m sure we can mobilize the required 30% ( in constituency) and 15% (in ward)

Kenyans react

Both constituents and fellow Kenyans came out in support of Robi Chacha’s campaign to show Babu Owino the door and have him pay for his injustices.

Others however, held to the belief that this course is not for the faint-hearted because Babu Owino’s political circle is not one to mess with.

Meanwhile, a section was quick to blame the lawyer for mere clout chasing.

Embakasi East MP Babu Owino knows how to annoy Kenyans on Twitter; and if you doubt this, then his latest tweet will leave you convinced otherwise.

A few days ago KoT decided to join in hands as they demanded justice for DJ Evolve who was shot a few months ago by MP Babu Owino. Twitter users went on to push the hashtag #JusticeForDjEvolve which left Babu Owino trending.

But thanks to his ignorance and arrogant behavior, Babu did not seem bothered or moved by this. To prove how much of a don’t care he is, the MP recently went on to share a tweet begging Kenyans to make him trend since he misses being discussed. He went on to tweet;

“I really miss trending, can someone make me trend even if it’s negative please”

KoT offers suggestions

Seeing what boredom was doing to Babu Owino; KoT on the other hand decided to join in his game as they responded to his tweet.

Clearly Babu had nothing else better to do than pick a fight with the same Kenyans who hate his guts. As seen on the screenshots shared below, some fans went on to suggest he shoots the likes of Raila or others; that is if he was so desperate to trend.

Others chose to drag his wife into the messy exchange as they advised Babu to take her down; promising to make him trend for weeks!

In January 2020, Babu Owino was caught on camera shooting DJ Evolve over an unknown disagreement that almost cost the young man his life.

He has since been in hospital and according to his dad; Babu Owino seems to have abandoned their son in hospital! The bill continues to pile up but Babu claims he already has it sorted out!

DJ Evolve speaks for the first time months after he was shot at popular night club!

DJ Evolve is back on social media weeks after he was hospitalized at the Nairobi Hospital for gunshot injuries on his neck. According to reports, the young DJ was allegedly shot in front of many witnesses by Emabakasi East MP who then drove him to hospital.

As seen on security cameras at the B Club where the incident took place; Babu Owino was seen carrying Evolve’s body out of the club as he rushed him to hospital together with his bodyguard.

The case which is currently in court has not been making any major steps. However it appears that Evolve and Babu Owino might already have an understanding outside court which explains their sience on the matter.

Evolve speaks

After spending weeks in the Intensive care unit, DJ Evolve appears to be recovering just fine. The B Club DJ went on to shared his first post weeks after the incident; thanking fans and family for standing with him.

Babu Owino speaks about his friendship with Evolve

Speaking to Jalang’o just recently, Babu Owino owned up to his mistakes saying there is no saint without a past. He went on to admit his mistake; however since the matter is already in court then fans can wait for the final ruling.

We are in communication. And what I must say is that there is no saint without a past. Two, I would not like to dwell on my past so much, because I can’t change my past, but I can change my future. Every other thing that happened is between me and God, and I choose to forgive myself. This matter is before a Court of law, so as Babu Owino on Humanitarian or morals grounds, I did agree to settle the bill, so I settled the bills just as a friend.

As for those who didn’t know, turns out Babu and Evolve are actually good friends. But just like everyone else, they also have their issues to deal with.

He is a very good friend of mine and no man or woman should come between us. Everybody has their issues, and no man is righteous before God. Let no man, let no woman judge me, I will not take it lightly,”

Rapper Wangechi reacts to DJ Evolve’s Ksh 6.7 million medical bill, Babu Owino hits back with savage response!

Rapper Wangechi could not hold back her feelings after learning DJ Evolves medical bill had gone up to Ksh 6,684,000.

DJ Evolve hospitalized

The lass who has been maintaining a low profile for a while now reposted DJ Evolves story; which had been by done by a popular news house to which she went on to say:

“I say this from the deepest part of my soul, F*** BABU OWINO!”

Well having heard how hard it has been for DJ Evolves parents, it’s only fair to understand why Wangechi acted this way.

Babu Owino hits back

Responding to Wangechi’s tweet, Babu Owino as usual couldn’t resist the temptation of hitting back as he responded saying:

Word has it that the hospital bill amounted to 6.7 million since Ksh 1.66M is the doctors fees, Ksh 1.3M in pharmacy charges, Ksh 913, 683 nursing fee and Ksh 990,000 for the ICU room; and lastly a physiotherapy charge of 494,100 among other charges.

This comes after Babu Owino defended himself saying that he had not abandoned DJ Evolve! According to Babu, he has been making his bail payments to the court who should be asked about the money. He went on to say;

“Unfortunately, the court orders indicated that these monies were to be paid directly to the honourable courts which would then facilitate the release of funds, on a monthly basis to Nairobi Hospital where the victim is hospitalized. This essentially means that our client has no control of the funds once he has deposited the same from the courts”

B-Club deejay Felix Orinda popularly known as DJ Evolve has raised concerns over his safety following the release of Embakasi MP, Babu Owino on bail.

The deejay who is still undergoing treatment locally, is paralyzed from the neck down. This is after a fatal shooting with the Kenyan legislator on the 17th of January.

Reports reveal that the disk jockey is suffering from a condition ´quadriplegia´, losing his sensory and motor abilities.

However, DJ Evolve´s test results indicated that there was heroin, bhang and alcohol in his system as well as the first two, in his possession.

Court hearing

Early yesterday, the 27th of January, the politician´s release did not augur well with the victim´s family who claimed they fear for their lives.

During Babu Owino´s bail hearing, the bail assessment report read:

Their plea to the court is that if the same is granted, other protective measures should be instituted to ensure the security of the victim, family and also to safeguard against witness interference.

DJ Evolve living in fear, following Babu Owino´s release

DJ Evolve further noted that he lives in fear.

I am in pain, I am tired and traumatized. Plus, I don´t want to talk and I cannot fathom anything. I have not slept for days because I am scared of my life and future.

Bail

The Embakasi MP was granted a Ksh 10 Million bail that is to be paid up in 4 installments for the next 3 months.

The first Ksh 2.5 million, frees him from Industrial Area remand for the last one week.

According to Chief Magistrate, Francis Andayi, the money will be used to settle the deejay´s hospital bill.

Babu Owino has been banned from any alcohol or narcotic drug abuse in public places until the case is determined.

Embakasi East MP Babu Owino is currently in police custody after shooting DJ Evolve at B Club.

The DJ is however receiving treatment at the Nairobi hospital. From the stories making rounds online is that Evolve is currently at the ICU fighting for his life as his family awaits for him to wake up.

Anyway, Babu Owino has already issued an official statement – where he did not apologize for the act; but went on to claim that his life was in danger at the time the he opened fire.

STATEMENT BY HON. BABU OWINO ON INCIDENT
A few weeks ago, I made a public statement regarding threats that I had been receiving against my life. At the turn of the year, I reported an attempted assassination at the Parliament Police Station under OB number OB21/17/11/2019 at 17:28hrs. I have been living under the weight of intimidation and threats by my political opponents.

Yesterday was the culmination of these efforts by my enemies. While enjoying the company of my friends at a popular Nairobi restuarant, I was surrounded by a large group of aggressive individuals. In the melee, there was an exchange of gunfire.

I invite the relevant authorities to conduct their investigations without fear or favor and I remain confident that the truth will come out.

I urge my supporters to remain calm. I will continue to serve wananchi fearlessly. This will not deter me from supporting H. E Uhuru Kenyatta and H. E Raila Odinga in the journey to transform our country.

Kenyans on social media demand for justice

However Kenyans on social media are not having any of this. They have gone ahead to demand for justice to be served and now want Babu Owino to remain behind bars for attempting to kill the young DJ.

The DCI have however confirmed that Babu Owino is in their custody as they continue to carry their investigations.
