Susan Kaittany Settles Sh40K Debt Amid Auction Threat to Spa

Reality TV star and entrepreneur Susan Kaittany narrowly avoided the auctioning of her Posh Palace Hair Studio and Spa over a Sh40,500 debt.

In early November, auctioneers visited the Nairobi spa to seize assets valued at over Sh500,000, following a Milimani Small Claims Court ruling against Kaittany. The court had ordered her to settle the debt owed to Stephen Murithi Mutua, owner of Blueberry Africa, for podcast production services rendered in 2023. Despite multiple payment demands, Kaittany initially failed to clear the debt.

The court’s judgment, delivered on August 1, 2024, awarded Blueberry Africa Sh40,500 plus interest at 12.5% annually from July 1, 2023, alongside legal costs of Sh15,000. By November 6, the debt had accumulated to Sh61,984 due to accrued interest.

Interfield Auctioneers issued a 7-day proclamation notice, listing attached assets including hair dryers (Sh20,000), steamers (Sh25,000), salon chairs (Sh40,000), foot spas (Sh50,000), and massage tables (Sh10,000). Kaittany also faced an additional auctioneers’ invoice of Sh38,600.

However, just before the auction deadline, Kaittany resolved the matter by issuing a cheque covering the debt, interest, and associated costs. Her legal representatives confirmed the payment had averted the auction, safeguarding the spa’s assets.
