Radio Jambo presenter Cyrus Afune, widely known as Lion Deh, is grieving the heartbreaking loss of his child.

Lion Deh, who co-hosts the popular drive-time show Mbusii na Lion Teke Teke alongside Mbusi, has been off-air as he mourns this devastating tragedy.

The news was shared by his colleague Massawe Japanni during her show on Radio Jambo, where she offered heartfelt condolences to Lion Deh and his family:

“Hakuna kitu kigumu kama kumpoteza mtoto wako. Lion, popote pale ulipo pamoja na mke wako na familia yako nasema pole sana, Mungu akuongoze kipindi hiki kigumu.”

She added, “I cannot even imagine mzazi kumpoteza mtoto wake, so mashabiki wa Lion, Lion hataweza kufika maana amepata msiba.”

While Lion Deh has not yet publicly addressed the loss or revealed the cause of his child’s passing, fans and colleagues have united to offer their support. Social media has been flooded with messages of condolence, reflecting the strong bond Lion Deh shares with his listeners.

Massawe also hinted that Mbusi, Lion Deh’s long-time co-host and close friend, might also step away from the show temporarily to stand by him.

“Mbusi pia sijui kama ataweza kufika maana wale ni mandugu,” she remarked.

Lion Deh has enjoyed a stellar career in Kenya’s reggae music and broadcasting industry, working alongside Mbusi for over a decade, starting from their early days at Ghetto Radio. Their on-air chemistry and engaging content have made their show a favorite among reggae fans.

Despite enticing offers from other stations, Lion Deh has remained loyal to Radio Jambo, solidifying his reputation as a key figure in Kenya’s reggae scene. Beyond radio, he is also an entrepreneur and event organizer, co-founding Hakuna Mbrrrr Entertainment, which specializes in reggae-themed events.

This recent tragedy follows a health scare in March 2022, when Lion Deh was hospitalized with severe anaemia. During that time, fans rallied to donate blood, underscoring the deep affection and respect he commands.

As he faces this unimaginable loss, Lion Deh is surrounded by an outpouring of love and solidarity from colleagues, fans, and friends.
