Sorry Kenyans Oprah is not coming to Kogelo – Obama’s team
Kenyans will now need to regroup after and manage their excitement brought about by word that mogul Oprah Winfrey will be in the country on July 16 alongside Barrack Obama and several other delegates.
Obama is scheduled to have a one-day visit that will see him hold talks with President Uhuru Kenyatta at State House, Nairobi, before travelling to his ancestral home of K’Ogelo to visit with his relatives and launch Sauti Kuu Foundation associated with the former President’s elder sister, Auma Obama.
Fake news
Word had first indicated that Oprah will be among the expected guests but according to Obama’s Spokesperson who spoke to CNN, that’s fake news.
“But it’s not accurate that Oprah will go (Just want to be clear on that, since it’s been a widely circulated rumor.),” an email from Obama’s spokesperson said.
US-based Senegalese musician Akon, together with Zimbabwe’s music maestro Oliver Mutukudzi who will be travelling with his daughter Samona are also expected.
