Sonko rushes to the rescue of former Harambee Stars player battling alcoholism
Former Harambee Stars player George ‘Jojo’ Waweru now has all the reasons to smile after Nairobi governor Mike Sonko pledged medical support.
George Waweru is part of the golden generation of football players who took Kenya to Africa Cup of Nations finals in Tunisia in 2004.
He also played for top flight KPL clubs including KCB, Tusker FC and AFC Leopards. George has however been battling alcoholism, his health has deteriorated and was recently taken ill and admitted in Kenyatta National Hospital.
Weekly hospital visits
Nairobi County Assembly Minority chief whip Hashim Kamau has revealed that Sonko Rescue Team will finance the legendary player’s weekly hospital visits.
Hashim also indicated that George will be given a job by the Nairobi county government.
