Sol Generation Records Launches Press Play 2.0: A New Artist Development Program

Sol Generation Records has announced the launch of Press Play 2.0, a comprehensive artist development program aimed at nurturing young talent from marginalized peri-urban areas in Kenya. The program is open to artists aged 18 to 35 and will provide participants with the tools and resources they need to succeed in the music industry.

According to Sol Generation CEO, William Nanjero, the auditions for Press Play 2.0 have already begun. “We invite young creatives from Kakamega, Nairobi, and Mombasa to be part of this transformative journey,” Nanjero said. “The program will focus on inclusivity and provide comprehensive support to 250 aspiring creatives.”

The program will kick off in Kakamega, followed by Mombasa and Nairobi. Participants will have the opportunity to showcase their talents through auditions and preparatory activities.

Press Play 2.0 is an expansion of the original Press Play program, which focused on empowering female artists from East Africa. This new iteration will target a more diverse group of participants, with a focus on 70% female and 30% male creatives.

In addition to nurturing musical talent, the program aims to empower young people from marginalized communities by providing pathways to financial independence and cultural impact.  

Successful candidates from each region will move on to the masterclass and mentorship phase, where they will receive intensive training and support to hone their skills. The program will feature workshops, mentorship sessions, writing camps, and music creation activities.

Press Play 2.0 is a significant step forward for Sol Generation Records and the Kenyan music industry. By providing opportunities for young, aspiring artists, the program is helping to create a more inclusive and vibrant music scene.
