Sol Fest Commits to Only Bringing Kenyan Artists
Sauti Sol’s Bien-Aime Baraza has unveiled exciting details about Sol Fest 2024, a two-day music extravaganza scheduled for December 19th and 20th. This year’s festival promises to be a unique celebration of Kenyan music, with a focus on local talent and world-class production.
A Two-Day Music Extravaganza Ticket prices for this year’s event are set at Sh20,000 for the VIP experience and Sh3,000 for the general admission. Bien emphasized the importance of elevating Kenyan music:
“For years, I’ve felt that Kenyan music deserves premium production. Last year’s Sol Fest showcased the potential of our local talent, and this year, we’re taking it to the next level.”
A Platform for Kenyan Artists Unlike previous years, Sol Fest 2024 will feature exclusively Kenyan artists. Bien explained the decision:
“Initially, we considered bringing in international acts. However, we realized that we could invest the same amount in our local artists, providing them with opportunities and giving back to the community that has supported Sauti Sol.”
A Financial Success and a Cultural Celebration Last year’s Sol Fest generated significant revenue, with ticket sales alone reaching Sh70 million and merchandise sales adding another Sh10 million. This year’s festival aims to build on this success while celebrating Kenyan culture.
A Diverse Lineup Sol Fest 2024 will feature two distinct sets:
- Set 1: Arbantone Music Celebration: A high-energy performance showcasing the best of Arbantone music, complete with live bands, dancers, and even a stage performance by matatus.
- Set 2: Kenyan Rhumba Extravaganza: A nostalgic journey through Kenyan rhumba music, featuring both modern artists like Okello Max and Watendawili, and legendary groups like Les Wanyika and Them Mushrooms.
As Sol Fest 2024 approaches, anticipation is building for this unique celebration of Kenyan music. By focusing on local talent and world-class production, the festival is poised to leave a lasting impact on the Kenyan music industry.
