School Calendar Update- Term Two Half-Term Shifted After Floods Affected Planned Dates

The Ministry of Education has adjusted the school calendar for Term Two to accommodate delays caused by the heavy rains and floods in May.

Half-Term Shift

Originally scheduled for June 20-23, the half-term break for Term Two has been moved to June 26-28. This change allows schools additional time to catch up after disruptions caused by the flooding.

Boarding School Reopening

Boarding school students will return on June 30th, as previously planned.

Revised Schedule Communication

The Ministry of Education emphasizes the need for schools to adjust their activities and schedules to reflect the new dates. County directors of Education are responsible for communicating these revisions to all head teachers and principals within their jurisdiction.

Ensuring Smooth Transition

The Ministry is committed to minimizing further disruptions. Basic Education Principal Secretary Belio Kipsang urged school administrations to implement the revised dates effectively.

Flood Recovery Efforts

Following President Ruto’s directive in May, the Ministry of Education is collaborating with the National Government Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF) to secure funding for repairs and rehabilitation of flood-damaged schools. Additionally, President Ruto pledged Sh1 billion to support the rebuilding efforts in the most affected areas.
