Samidoh In Mourning After Death Of Popular Mugithi Singer Kioi
The Mugiithi community is grieving the loss of talented singer and guitarist Gibson Kioi Wairimu, known by his stage name Kioi Junior. Kioi Junior passed away on Monday, April 29th while receiving treatment at KU Referral Hospital.
Kioi Junior was a beloved member of the Mugiithi scene, known not only for his music but also for his outspoken atheism.

He openly challenged religious beliefs, calling the Bible “an old novel” and stating his need for proof of God or Satan’s existence.
Fellow musician Samidoh, who knew Kioi Junior from their time playing in Kamande wa Kioi’s band, expressed his deep sorrow. Samidoh called Kioi Junior a brother and mentor who significantly impacted his musical career. He shared fond memories of their time together in Githurai 44, learning guitar chords and bonding over meals.

Samidoh wasn’t alone in mourning. Mugithi star Karangu wa Muraya also paid tribute to his dear friend Kioi Junior, offering condolences to Kioi Junior’s brother, Kamande wa Kioi.
