Rich people’s problems: Photos of proposed 35-storey skyscraper that Kilimani’s rich don’t want built in their neighborhood

Cytonn Real Estate initiated plans to build a 35-storey skyscraper in on a 4-acre parcel of land in Nairobi’s Kilimani area in September 2017. Kilimani’s rich now oppose the construction of the skyscraper in their neighborhood.

The construction of 35-floor Cytonn triplex towers is intended to commence this year. The 150 meters high tower is expected to further lift the face of Nairobi skyline.

Kilimani’s rich oppose the project arguing that Cytonn towers will  disrupt lives and businesses. Kilimani Project Foundation says the towers will  affect the health of their children since the project will involve numerous truck movements and activities within and around the site.

The Kilimani Foundation also argues that the tower’s 150 meters height will obstruct the natural flow of air creating an uncomfortable warm climate.

Urban greenery, security and overstretched utilities are some of the other issues raised by Kilimani’s rich. The project developers however say that residents’ concerns were addressed in the feasibility study before the construction.
