Police Rescue Kidnapped Car Dealers, Arrest Four Suspects
In a daring rescue operation, Ruiru police have apprehended four suspected carjackers who abducted two vehicle dealers and held them captive for ransom. The suspects, including a young woman, were nabbed at their hideout in Juja, nearly four days after the kidnapping.
The perpetrators had lured the unsuspecting traders under the guise of potential customers, leading them to Juja where they were abducted and locked away in a building. The captors demanded a hefty ransom of Ksh5 million from the victims’ families and friends.
The ordeal left the victims in a weakened state, having been confined to a toilet and denied food. Upon rescue, they were immediately taken to the hospital for medical attention.
The chain of events unfolded when a complaint was filed on December 1st, alerting the authorities to the abduction of the two car dealers. Ruiru Sub-county Police Commander Alex Shikondi recounted the details of the incident.
“On Friday, December 1st, we received a report from Kiambu that two car dealers had been abducted by people pretending to be customers who then led them towards Juja,” Shikondi stated.
A breakthrough came on Monday morning when the vehicle used in the abduction was involved in an accident near Kahawa Sukari along the Thika superhighway. The trail led police to the suspects’ hideout in Juja, where they were apprehended.
“The abductors had hit a taxi and fled, but luckily their captives were found in the boot of the vehicle and they later led police to the hideout where the four were arrested,” Shikondi explained, accompanied by Ruiru DCI officer Jeremiah Ndubai.
The swift action by the police has brought relief to the rescued victims and their families, while the arrest of the suspects has sent a strong message against such heinous crimes.
