Pastor James Ng’ang’a business goes bust!

The popular preacher and controversial speaker Neno Evangelist Pastor James Ng’ang’a has cautioned Christians from using the hotel industry as a means of making a living.

The well-known Newstead Hotel (previously Sunny Hill Hotel), which is located along the Nakuru-Nairobi road, is owned by Pastor Ng’ang’a.
Ng’ang’a disclosed that he made the decision to close his hotel because of actions that went against his religious beliefs.

He claimed to have learned that his hotel employees were renting out rooms to people looking for extramarital affairs and selling condoms, which he considered to be “devilish” and against his morals.
He claimed to have been losing money on a regular basis.

“I closed the hotel because the business that was going on there was against my preaching. That money is devilish. There is no profit since people who used to come there, some of them were married people who had ‘mpango wa Kandos’ and only wanted a quickie. Ni usherati tupu,”

Pastor Ng’ang’a continued by expressing sorrow for entering the hotel industry and asserting that it had produced no profits in the previous ten years.

He advised pastors who own hotels to lease them out to third parties instead of managing them themselves, and he asked other pastors to think twice before operating hotels.

Such endeavors, in his opinion, have the potential to divert people from their religious convictions.

“I would not advise pastors to open hotels. As a pastor, if you can build and rent it out then that is fine but it should not be you who is running it. The devil is using you through such a project,”

He claimed that neither Mugiithi nor wine were available at his hotel. But it seems that this specialized market approach was a factor in its failure to turn a profit.

Pastor Ng’ang’a made the announcement earlier this year in April that he intended to sell the hotel for Ksh 800 million, negotiable, in order to raise money to expand his ministry in the US.

The contentious figure did, however, add that he had to change his mind because he was unable to find a buyer prepared to pay his asking price.

“I had offers from buyers who wanted to acquire it for less than the desired amount, and I decided not to sell it,”

Instead, he has decided to lease the land.
