Old Man Fights With Kindergarten Children Over Excessive Noise
Peace and quiet at a Bournemouth preschool have been shattered by a resident resorting to extreme measures. The neighbor, clearly unhappy with the sound of children playing, has taken to blasting a loud siren every time the kids head outside.
Things started with a passive-aggressive sign on the neighbor’s fence: “Respect Our Neighbors, Keep The Noise Down.” But apparently, a simple request wasn’t enough. This summer, the situation escalated when the resident started using a siren to silence the playground.
Reports indicate the siren blares every morning and afternoon, perfectly timed to disrupt playtime. During a recent school event—sports and graduation day—the siren wailed continuously for over eight minutes, ruining the happy occasion and leaving some children in distress.
The school is understandably “disgusted” by these “intimidating” tactics. They’ve reported the issue to the council, and an investigation is underway.
“We had children crying because they thought it was a fire alarm,” shared Jackie Hiscox, the preschool manager. “It’s not fair to expect children to stop playing simply because they live next door.”
The school has even tried relocating equipment to minimize noise, but the siren continues to disrupt their activities. Video footage from the sports day captures the struggle to hear over the piercing alarm.
Parents are equally frustrated. “It’s a shame,” said Victoria, a parent at the school. “The kids aren’t even that loud, and it’s ridiculous considering the location of the house.”
Others in the community have taken to social media to criticize the neighbor’s actions. Many questioned why someone would choose to live near a school if they disliked noise. Residents are calling out the neighbor’s behavior as “nasty” and a “complete overreaction.”
The council has confirmed they are looking into the noise complaint. Hopefully, a solution can be found that allows both the children to play and the neighbor to enjoy some peace and quiet.
