Nyota Ndogo Refutes Rumours Of Being ‘Poor’ After Food Donation From Joho

Coast-based singer Nyota Ndogo has responded to rumors that former Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho donated food to her because she was considered “less fortunate.”

During a phone interview with Radio 47 on March 25, Nyota clarified that Joho’s visit to Taita Taveta was motivated by Ramadan and that the food donation was part of the traditional practice of sharing meals with neighbors and communities during this time.

“Who are the rich? He didn’t come specifically to my house. Let me tell you, he came to Taita Taveta and donated food because of Ramadan. In every neighborhood, there were local leaders who submitted names, and mine happened to be on the list,” Nyota explained.

Nyota asserted her right to accept goodwill gestures, particularly during Ramadan or other communal events, and condemned the negative comments she received online.

“This was food for breaking the Ramadan fast, not charity for the poor. When food is brought for Ramadan, let us all partake. Why should we always be the givers, and never the receivers?

The needy are given food all the time. Sometimes, even if the food was meant for someone else, we still share it. So people should stop being petty. I have never claimed to be rich,” Nyota stated.

Nyota Ndogo recently welcomed a baby boy with her mzungu hubby Henning Nielsen. Despite having a baby with a white man, Nyota Ndogo claims the baby’s color doesn’t match with him; but the hair does.
