Nyako Warns Against TikTok Gifts, Advocates for Honest Work
German-based content creator Rose Atieno, popularly known as Nyako, has sparked widespread debate after cautioning her followers about accepting free gifts on TikTok. Speaking during a TikTok Live session, Nyako urged users to be mindful of the sources of these gifts, highlighting potential risks and ethical concerns.
Why Nyako Believes TikTok Money Is Risky
TikTok allows users to send virtual gifts to creators as a form of appreciation, which can be converted into real money. While this often serves as a major income stream for creators, Nyako raised serious reservations about the practice, questioning the transparency of the gift sources.

“You do not question where this money comes from. Did the person work for it? How did they get it? Are they in a cult? There are people who use money from questionable sources to recruit others without their knowledge,” she stated.
Nyako also criticized TikTok’s monetization structure, suggesting that it creates a cycle of dependency for creators.
“With TikTok, you cannot become a millionaire. The money will never be enough. Be careful with TikTok money,” she cautioned.
Nyako’s Shift Toward Traditional Work
During the session, Nyako hinted at her plans to step back from TikTok and pursue traditional work, emphasizing the importance of earning money through hard work.
“I do not want this lifestyle. I want to go and work hard for my own money. Your own money is going to be blessed. It may be little, but it will be blessed. The money you work hard for is better than millions from unknown sources,” she said.

Nyako also expressed concerns about the anonymity of TikTok gifters, pointing out that most creators have no personal connection with the people sending them money.
“We don’t know who sends this money or if it is blessed. You close your live, and the money is there, but where did it come from?”
Nyako’s remarks have ignited discussions about the ethics of TikTok monetization and the value of honest, hard-earned income, resonating with many who share her concerns.
