Nollywood star Jnr Pope to be buried Friday
The family of the late Nollywood actor Junior Pope has commenced a week-long series of burial preparations for the actor, culminating in his burial on Friday, May 17, 2024.
The burial arrangements commenced with a requiem mass on April 23rd, followed by another requiem mass on Monday, May 13th. On Tuesday, May 14th, an evening of tributes and candlelight will be held in his honor.

Subsequently, a burial Mass will take place on Friday, May 17th, at St. Peter’s Parish Ukehe, where the actor will be laid to rest.
Junior Pope, who was en route to a movie set, tragically passed away along with other crew members due to drowning after their boat capsized. His death was announced by the Actors’ Guild of Nigeria.
“In light of the tragic incident of a boat mishap that claimed the life of Junior Pope and three other crew members at the waterside of River Niger Cable point Asaba on April 10, all films involving riverine areas and boat riding are hereby suspended indefinitely,” read part of the statement.

Junior Pope is survived by his wife, Jeniffer Awele, and three sons. He passed away at the age of 43.
