Nilikuwa Chokoraa- Arrow Bwoy Speaks On His Childhood Struggles

Most celebrities have their fair share of struggles that they underwent before rising to fame. Following up on their stories, we learn that nothing good comes on a silver platter. Kenyan dancehall artist Ali Yussuf, better known as Arrow Bwoy, has opened up on the struggles he went through before making it in the music industry.

He says that after class 6, family feuds made him have a hard time. During this period, he says he had started being a street kid. His mother later on decided to take him to Uganda because of this reason.

”Darasa la sita, home hakukuwa fiti. Kulikuwa na domestic violence… Wazazi walikuwa wanapigana and it wasn’t a good picture. Nikatolewa apo, matha akanihamisha nikaenda UG. Nikaeza kusomea uko, nikafanya class 7. UG huwa wanamilizia class 7. So nikamaliza uko class 7 na nikaendelea ivo ivo…

I think hio ndio waliona ni place safe mimi ku grow up… Because apa already nilikuwa nimeshaanza kuwa chokoraa… Waliona UG ilikuwa safe place kwangu.”

Arrow Bwoy finished form 6 and returned to Kenya, where he was helped a little bit by his uncles. They later let him go and ‘face the world’. He moved in with his brother, who used to sell nuts. He also ventured in fish mongering for a while.

Arrow Bwoy’s story is quite inspiring. He truly deserves all he has now.
