Speaking after Keter’s release later that same day, Joanne expressed that their children are still traumatized by the manner in which their father was apprehended.
She described how their car was blocked by another vehicle as they were leaving church, a moment that terrified their children who were in the car.
“The arrest happened so quickly,” Joanne recounted. “It was terrifying for our children. They were in the car with us when it happened.”
In the circulated footage, the sounds of children screaming can be heard as the former MP was taken away to a waiting car.
“I’m still traumatized. We were coming from church, as we do every Sunday, and had plans for the day,” Joanne said. “While we were leaving, a car blocked us. It all happened so fast.”

Joanne added that the children have been deeply affected and continue to ask about their father’s whereabouts.
“The men who came to arrest him are fathers themselves. God will avenge this because only He can heal the trauma left in my children’s hearts. They keep calling and asking where their dad is. May God punish this,” she said.
Keter was released on Sunday evening, hours after his dramatic arrest in Nairobi’s Kileleshwa area.
He was booked at Kamukunji police cells, with the arresting officers alleging that the former legislator had resisted arrest.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) stated that Keter’s arrest was related to an ongoing investigation into “conspiracy to traffic firearms and incitement to violence.”
The DCI refuted claims that the arrest was an abduction, confirming that it was carried out by officers from the National Police Service.
“Contrary to misinformation circulating on social media about the alleged abduction of Hon Alfred Keter by unknown men, this is to confirm that Hon Keter was arrested earlier today by NPS Officers for Conspiracy to Traffic Firearms and Incitement to Violence,” the DCI stated.
