Motive behind Kisii university student’s murder by her boyfriend emerge
New details have emerged about the tragic murder of Lucy Boke, a 22-year-old student at Kisii National Polytechnic. The suspect, identified as a man from Boke’s hometown of Masaba in Kuria West, Migori, is alleged to have killed her in a dispute over their relationship.
According to reports, the two individuals were involved in a romantic relationship, but their families objected to their union due to their close familial ties. The families reportedly met and agreed that the couple should not marry. However, the suspect allegedly refused to accept this decision and traveled to Kisii, where Boke was studying, to confront her.
On November 9, Boke’s lifeless body was discovered in her residence in the Jogoo area of Kisii. The suspect was later apprehended and saved from an enraged mob by police officers.
Boke’s family has revealed that the man had been pressuring her to marry him despite the families’ objections. They believe that his anger over the situation led him to commit the heinous act.
Police investigations are ongoing to determine whether any accomplices were involved in the murder. The suspect is expected to be charged with murder and appear in court soon.
This tragic incident highlights the importance of respecting cultural norms and traditions, particularly those that prohibit marriage between close relatives. It also underscores the need for open communication and understanding within families to prevent such conflicts from escalating into violence.
May Boke’s soul rest in peace, and may justice be served in this case.
