Meru governor Peter Munya joins bandwagon disputing interim results of 2017 election
IEBC provisional result for Meru county gubernatorial seat indicates incumbent governor Peter Munya is trailing Jubilee’s Kiraitu Murungi with over 49,000 votes.
Results from 1437 out of 1473 polling stations indicate Kiraitu is leading with 52.16% which represents 275,623 votes while Munya follows second with 226, 122 votes (42.79%).
Speaking to journalists on Wednesday, Munya reiterated Raila Odinga’s claims that 2017 general election had been rigged through computerized manipulation of results.
Raila yesterday rejected IEBC interim results claiming malicious persons gained unauthorized access into IEBC computer system using the late Chris Musando’s (IEBC ICT manager ) login details and manipulated the election results in favor of Jubilee.
The incumbent Meru governor said he won’t accept IEBC provisional results because they were manipulated. He said the will of the people had been subverted by the rigged election.
“We are back to the old KANU days where elections were stolen to divert the will of the will of the people,” Peter Munya said.
