Mercy Tarus Offered A Job After Speaking Up Against Botched Student Airlift Program

Narok Senator Ledama Ole Kina has offered a job to Mercy Tarus, a graduate who spoke up to Uasin Gishu Governor Jonathan Bii and Senator Jackson Mandago over the botched student airlift program.

Tarus, a graduate of Kabarak University, was one of the many students from Uasin Gishu who had paid money to the county government hoping to benefit from a program that would take them abroad to study. However, the program was never implemented, and Tarus and her parents lost nearly Sh1 million.

Tarus went viral after she expressed her disappointment with the botched program, as well as the high unemployment rate in Kenya. She urged President William Ruto to intervene and help the students get justice.

Senator Ole Kina was impressed by Tarus’s courage and her willingness to speak out against injustice. He offered her a job in his office, saying that he wanted to “engage her in meaningful employment.”

Tarus accepted the job offer, saying that she was grateful for the opportunity. She said that she would continue to fight for the rights of the youth and to ensure that they have access to quality education.

The offer of a job to Tarus is a positive development. It shows that there are people in positions of power who are willing to listen to the voices of young people and to take action to address their concerns. It is also a reminder that young people can make a difference if they are willing to speak out against injustice.
