Luos jamani, supremacy even in funeral! Sharon Otieno’s family at loggerheads with another family over burial date
A month has passed since Sharon Otieno died, the 26-year-old mother of three was abducted and later murdered on September 3rd.
Sharon was slated to be laid to rest on October 19th at her grandfather’s home in Magare Village, Kanyabala location. Her burial is going to however cost her family a fortune. According to the funeral committee chairman Elijah Opiyo, giving her decent send off will cost them at least Kes 1 million.
Supremacy battle
But now there is a supremacy battle that could possibly see Sharon’s burial postponed. A former late councilor is to be laid to rest on the same day that Sharon is supposed to be buried.
Both families want the media attention and don’t want their respective funeral to be overshadowed. This situation has caused tension between the two families which hail from the same village in Homa Bay County.
“There is confusion on who should be laid to rest first between Otieno and the former councilor but we maintain that she will be laid to rest on Friday next week,” family spokesperson Pablo Anyanga told Nation.
