Kelvin Mangare faces charges of breaking into Parliament and disabling surveillance cameras ahead of the Occupy Parliament protests.

Accused of multiple break-ins at Parliament between April and July 2024, Mangare appeared in court at Milimani Law Courts on July 10. He stands accused of stealing electrical switches valued at Sh2.6 million from Parliament premises.

High-profile criminal defense attorney Cliff Ombeta showed keen interest in the case, expressing his engagement on social media. He posted on X.com (formerly Twitter), stating, “My type of client. Ehhhhh!”

Ombeta’s remark sparked enthusiasm among his followers, who understood his reference to high-profile criminal cases.

During his court appearance before Senior Principal Magistrate Gilbert Shikwe, Mangare faced charges related to the alleged burglaries, including incidents on April 23 and May 20, where CCTV switches were reportedly stolen from Maga Security Solutions.

Mangare pleaded not guilty to all charges and was released on a bond of half a million shillings pending further legal proceedings.
