Korogocho gangster becomes the 10th criminal police have shot dead in a week (Photos)

The number of gangsters killed in a week in Nairobi highlights the crime crisis in the city. Majority of criminals shot dead are young men in their 20s.

Every time Hessy announces the deaths of gangsters its usually young men that have been gunned down. This week alone police have killed gangsters in Kibera, Korogocho, Dandora and Mukuru slums.

These deaths implies insecurity in slum dwellings is at its peek. Incidents of mugging, rape and violent crimes are reported almost daily in slums.

Korogocho gangster

On Wednesday night police shot one gangster in a botched robbery in Korogocho slums. The deceased was in company of two other criminals who managed to escape.

The fallen criminal was robbing pedestrians with his gang when police responded and shot him dead. The gangster’s death brings to 10 the number of criminals police have shot dead in a week in Nairobi alone.
