KFCB Sets Jail Term For Offenders Sharing Explicit Videos & Photos

Kenya Film Classification Board (KFCB) has given a stern warning to netizens who share explicit content on social media without consent.

Acting KFCB Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Christopher Wambua says it is illegal to share intimate images or videos of other parties without their consent.

Mr. Wambua, speaking during a press address on Wednesday, warned that offenders risk a two-year jail term, a fine of up to Ksh.200,000 or both.

Baring in mind the recent cases including the disturbing video of a mother killing and cannibalising her child, KFCB CEO Christopher Wambua called the frequency disconcerting.

The video which went viral online on Tuesday was shared without warning on multiple platforms including on Whatsapp & FaceBook.

Similarly, alleged leaked $ex video of Millicent Omanga trended 2 weeks ago; and roped in netizens’ reactions. These are among the vices that KFCB are trying to curb.
