Kenyans should take time and understand Willy Paul musical journey
Wilson Abubakar Radido, alias Willy Paul, is probably the most harshly judged celebrity in Kenya and in my opinion this is because many people don’t understand him.

The musician, who was born and bred in Mathare slums, has come a long way if you have been a fan of his since he made his debut in the local music industry, you can attest to this.
When he started off, he was this meek character, that was when gospel music was still doing well in the country but with time, he has turned into a bad boy and what made it worse is that he was still a gospel musician.
As such, people started judging him because he would be caught up in all manner of scandals. At some point, he was even photographed imbibing alcohol.
Things got worse with time as Willy Paul started releasing songs like Lamba Nyonyo that left many of us wondering whether he was a gospel singer.
Eventually, he bowed to pressure and announced that he had quit gospel music. About a fortnight ago, he surprised Kenyans when he released a song titled Wema with Gloria Muliro.
If you looked at how his music career has progressed over the years, it’s hard to understand him. Put simply, it is so confusing.
Somehow, with all these gaffes, if we can call them that, Willy Paul has managed to remain relevant and this is what most people don’t understand.
The truth is that controversy sells and I think he realized this after several years of trying to do things the right way as a gospel musician and as they say, the end justifies the means.
Willy Paul has also never had a permanent manager and this means that he does most of the things by himself. As such, he not only lacked advice but he has had to learn things the hard way.
If you ask me, I will tell you that he is just okay, even with all the controversy. I will also tell you that he is the most misunderstood Kenyan celebrity.
