Kenyans mourn the death of gospel star

The evangelical music industry laments the sudden passing of legendary vocalist Roseline Akinyi, well known by her stage name Roseline Damian.

The gifted singer died at the age of 39. She was most known for her entrancing Luo and Swahili hit songs, including “Ruoth in’gama nade,” “Simba Muomo,” “Wuon Osimbo,” “Nipende Yesu,” and “Tukuza Bwana.”

Roseline Damian has bravely fought cancer for years.

The gospel fraternity was aware of her struggles, and in June they came together as a caring fundraising organization to gather money for her medical costs.

A sincere appeal posted on a WhatsApp fundraising group urged members to assist the artist through her tough times.

“Praise God, great women and men of God. We are taking this opportunity to thank everyone for accepting to be here to stand with our dear sister, Roseline Damian, who is in the hospital right now. It’s been confirmed that she is suffering from breast cancer, brain tumor, and leukemia…we all know Roseline, and she has been a blessing to most of us. Now, it’s our turn to show her our love by supporting her financially and spiritually…Money and blood are needed, so we still need more donors to donate blood…The amount needed for now is 700k. Let’s stand with our own, sacrifice any amount for this noble cause.”

Sadly, despite the efforts of the entire community to help her, Roseline passed away from her ailments, leaving behind a devastated husband and a young boy who was just five years old.

The death of this gifted artist was greatly lamented by her family, friends, and followers.

Millions of people were affected by Roseline’s music, which also provided comfort and inspiration to those who listened to her soul-stirring gospel melodies.

Leading gospel artists and vocalists have sent their condolences, lamenting the passing of a true legend in the field.

A well-known member of the gospel community named Papa Tomaso sent his condolences from Tanzania, saying,

“My deepest condolences to the family. I am in Tanzania, and we stand united in times of sorrow; unity is strength.”

Roseline Damian’s passing has left a vacuum in the gospel music community, but her timeless melodies and the difference she made in so many people’s lives will ensure that her legacy endures.

Let her soul rest in peace.
