Kenyan woman caught in India smuggling cocaine worth Ksh 560 million
A Kenyan woman was arrested in India on Tuesday for smuggling cocaine valued at 560 million shillings. The cocaine was concealed inside whiskey bottles.
The woman, who has not been named, was arrested at the Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi after arriving from Kenya via Addis Ababa.
Customs officials said they found 2.5 kilograms of cocaine hidden in three whiskey bottles in a bag that the woman was carrying. The bag was from a duty-free shop.
The woman told police that she had been given the bag in Nairobi and was supposed to deliver it to someone in Delhi. She has been charged with drug smuggling and could face up to 20 years in prison.
The arrest is a major blow to drug traffickers who are trying to smuggle drugs into India. It is also a reminder of the dangers of drug smuggling, as the woman could face a long prison sentence if she is convicted.
