Kennedy Rapudo has fired back at critics speculating about the source of his wealth.
In an Instagram story shared on Sunday, January 5, 2025, Rapudo expressed frustration over the public’s newfound interest in his finances, contrasting it with the lack of concern during his struggles.

“No one asked about the source of my poverty when I was broke,” he stated, emphasizing that his success stems from legitimate and honest means, not illegal activities, as some have claimed.
Dismissing allegations linking him to fraudulent schemes like gold scams or ‘Wash Wash,’ Rapudo made it clear that such activities are not part of his life.
“Gold scams? Wash Wash? Those are not my lanes and never will be. I’ve never been involved in anything illegal, and I never will be. If you’re curious, ask the people actually involved or the DCI—not me,” he declared.
As a public figure, Rapudo noted that any evidence of wrongdoing would have already surfaced if the accusations were true. He attributed the rumours to jealousy and malice.
“Just because someone chooses to live a private life and keeps their finances confidential doesn’t mean they’re involved in scams. It’s amusing how people focus on others’ lives instead of their own. While they talk, I’ll continue building my life, one honest step at a time,” he remarked.

Rapudo also urged Kenyans to redirect their energy toward addressing critical national issues like poor governance and holding leaders accountable.
“Our focus should be on bad governance and holding leaders accountable, not losing sleep over a private citizen’s wealth. Let’s have a happy new year and work on personal growth and societal progress,” he concluded.
Previous Remarks on Wealth Allegations
This isn’t the first time Rapudo has addressed questions about his wealth. In a June 2023 interview with YouTuber Mungai Eve, he dismissed similar rumours as baseless theories.
“People have come up with many theories, including labeling me a ‘Wash Wash’ guy,” he said, reiterating that he lives an honest, transparent life.
“I’m not interested in Wash Wash. I don’t want to live a life under constant scrutiny. You’ll never see me associated with such activities—I live a clean life,” he added.
Rapudo shared that he prefers to keep his professional life private, with only close friends and family aware of his legitimate income sources. He noted that he would disclose his business ventures only if he ever decided to run for public office.
“My friends and family know what I do. If I ever run for political office, I’ll disclose my activities. Until then, I prefer keeping it private,” he affirmed.
Rapudo’s fiancée, Amber Ray, has also defended him, stating that he owes no one an explanation regarding his finances. The couple’s lavish lifestyle has often drawn public attention, sparking speculation about Rapudo’s wealth.
