Kaz Lucas Undergoes Uterine Removal Surgery

Kenyan actress and human rights advocate Kaz Lucas recently underwent a hysterectomy due to fibroids in her uterus. Known for her work defending sexuality and consent, Lucas shared the news on her TikTok account, explaining that her gynecologist found two fibroids, prompting the decision to remove her uterus through a laparoscopic procedure.

“Two years ago, I was diagnosed with fibroids. My gynecologist found two in my uterus, and now I’m having a hysterectomy,” Lucas said, announcing the removal of her uterus, cervix, and fallopian tubes.

The minimally invasive surgery involved making three small incisions. Kaz clarified that she will not experience early menopause as her ovaries remain intact and will continue to ovulate. However, her doctor indicated potential endometriosis on her right ovary, which would be addressed during the procedure.

Post-surgery, Kaz reflected on her recovery journey, sharing her emotional response. “It saddens me. I’ve become more appreciative of life because I’ve faced the possibility of losing it. My body feels weak, and my spirit is a bit defeated, but I’m determined to fight through it.”
