Kathy, who laid her husband to rest on July 17 and was appointed as the church’s Bishop on July 21, continues to be a regular presence at church services.

During a recent service at JCC, Kathy addressed her ongoing involvement, explaining that her active participation does not negate her mourning process.

She shared, “People keep asking how I’m doing. I’m overwhelmed and don’t know how to respond. Today I might be strong, and tomorrow I struggle. Walking into church and seeing pictures of him brings up a lot of emotions.”

Kathy emphasized that grief is personal and varies for everyone. She said, “I might feel like isolating myself, but that’s not my nature. I can cry and still get up and try again. I’m in and out, trying to navigate my emotions, and I ask for understanding.”

She acknowledged the collective grief within the church community, stating, “We’re all grieving together at JCC. I need to be here with everyone as we support each other through this journey.”
