The marital turmoil of businessman and gospel artist Karangu Muraya has dominated social media, with his estranged first wife, Triza Njeri, making bold allegations and seeking custody of their children.
The controversy began when Karangu publicly acknowledged being a polygamist in response to speculation about his “second wife,” Carol Kim. However, this admission triggered a series of explosive revelations from Triza, his wife of 13 years.
In an emotional TikTok live session, Triza accused Karangu of abandoning her and their two children after marrying Carol. She claimed he moved in with his new wife while leaving her and their children in their rural home in Gatundu South.
She further alleged that Carol had disrespected her, mocking her hygiene and fashion choices. Triza also expressed frustration over Karangu’s preferential treatment of Carol, stating he had bought her a luxurious car, a new phone, and even built her a home in an upscale Nairobi neighborhood.
Declaring she could no longer endure the situation, Triza made it clear that she was unwilling to stay in a polygamous marriage. “I will leave him to her, but boundaries must be set regarding my children,” she stated.

The situation escalated further when Triza accused Karangu of neglecting his marital duties, including denying her conjugal rights and refusing to replace her broken phone—despite his role as a brand ambassador for mobile phones. She also claimed he only visited their home briefly to take photos with their children for social media but never spent meaningful time with them.
While Triza has been vocal, Karangu has largely remained silent, refusing to consider divorce and instead proposing a family meeting to resolve the issue. However, Triza dismissed the idea, stating he had not consulted anyone when marrying his second wife. “I’m no longer interested in this marriage. I have my own life to live. I’m only 34,” she asserted.
