Justin Timberlake Arrested for DUI in New York’s Hamptons Area

Pop singer Justin Timberlake was arrested and charged with driving under the influence after failing to obey a stop sign and swerving from his lane multiple times in the upscale Hamptons area of New York, authorities reported on Tuesday, June 18.

Timberlake was taken into custody on Long Island in Sag Harbor on Tuesday morning, according to a statement from the local district attorney’s office.

The 43-year-old appeared for arraignment at Sag Harbor Village Justice Court and was subsequently released, the statement confirmed. His next court appearance is scheduled for a virtual hearing on July 26.

Court documents revealed that police observed Timberlake driving a 2025 gray BMW shortly after midnight. The documents stated that Timberlake ignored a stop sign and failed to stay in the correct lane on two occasions.

Upon being pulled over, Timberlake exhibited bloodshot and glassy eyes, emitted a strong smell of alcohol from his breath, demonstrated impaired attention, was unsteady on his feet, and performed poorly on all field sobriety tests, according to the documents.

Representatives for Timberlake did not respond immediately to requests for comment.

Timberlake’s attorney, Ed Burke, informed Us Weekly that his client faced a single count after refusing a breathalyzer test.

“Mr. Timberlake was also cited for two traffic violations: running a stop sign and improper lane usage,” Burke told the outlet.

People magazine reported that Timberlake was apprehended after leaving a dinner at the American Hotel.

Timberlake gained fame as a member of the 1990s boy band ‘N Sync before embarking on a successful solo career. His notable hits include “Can’t Stop the Feeling!,” “Suit & Tie,” and “SexyBack.”

In 2004, Timberlake sparked controversy during the Super Bowl halftime show in Houston by inadvertently exposing Janet Jackson’s breast after tearing part of her garment. The incident was attributed to a “wardrobe malfunction.”

He returned to headline the Super Bowl halftime show in 2018.

Timberlake is currently on his “Everything I Thought It Was” tour. He has two concerts scheduled in Chicago this weekend and two shows in New York City next week.
