Jackie Matubia Reveals She Never Wanted to Marry Blessing Lungáho, Despite Accepting His Proposal

Award-winning actress Jackie Matubia recently opened up about the struggles of raising her second daughter as a single mother after her breakup with actor Blessing Lung’aho, the father of her child. In a recent podcast interview, she reflected on her journey through love, separation, self-discovery, and personal growth following their split.

Matubia admitted that, despite her relationship with Lung’aho, she never envisioned a future of marriage with him. “My wake-up call was my second marriage,” she shared. She confessed she wouldn’t even consider their relationship a marriage, noting that her first marriage felt more authentic. Matubia also revealed that she had told Blessing from the start that she didn’t want to marry him or walk down the aisle, largely due to her fear of societal judgment.

After the birth of her daughter Zendaya, Matubia experienced a moment of clarity. She acknowledged the need to focus on her own personal growth and the well-being of her daughter, despite the pressure she felt from external opinions. She decided to end the relationship with Lung’aho, choosing to prioritize her development and her role as a mother.

Although Matubia had previously raised a child outside of marriage, the decision to raise Zendaya alone still proved emotionally difficult. She tried to fight for Lung’aho to remain involved in their daughter’s life, but he ultimately chose not to, leaving her to raise Zendaya by herself. Despite the pain, she chose not to pursue legal action for child support, realizing that it wasn’t worth the bitterness and stress.

As a mother of two, Matubia recognized the strength it took to raise Zendaya single-handedly, reflecting on the difference in her experiences. She admitted that she had been used to help from her first baby daddy but now had to provide everything for her daughter on her own. She also noted that she no longer felt the need to prove herself to anyone except her children.

Matubia and Lung’aho had kept their relationship private until they went public on February 14, 2022. Matubia shared a video introducing Lung’aho as her baby daddy-to-be while she was heavily pregnant with Zendaya. In April of the same year, Lung’aho proposed to her, and she shared her excitement on social media, saying, “He proposed and I said Yes! I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life laughing and loving you always!”
