I retired from that sector: Amused Millie Odhiambo responds to randy Gen Z text

Ahead of the peaceful march on Tuesday, June 18, against the proposed Finance Bill 2024, Kenyans reached out to politicians urging them to reject the bill when it comes up for debate in the house. Among those contacted was MP Millie Odhiambo, who shared some of the unusual messages she received in her DMs.

During a debate about protecting teen girls from predators, Millie emphasized the need to uphold high standards for safeguarding children.

“We have raised standards in protecting our children, and we cannot talk about lowering the age because of men’s libido,” the fiery legislator stated.

As she continued discussing the empowerment of victims, Millie humorously mentioned an unexpected message from a young man amid the serious discourse on the Finance Bill.

“Madam Speaker, it’s amusing that as people are writing to me saying, ‘Make sure the Finance Bill does not pass,’ a young man instead writes, ‘I am young but I have inches, Madam Speaker.'”

In a news broadcast aired on Citizen TV, Millie is heard expressing her amusement at the message.

“So, it is actually the reverse; it’s the young men who are seeking out retirees like me. I don’t mean I have retired from my work, but I have retired from that other sector. Telling me about inches—what do I do with inches?”

Holding up papers referencing a criminal appeal case, Millie stressed the importance of protecting not only young girls but also young boys from exploitation.

“But what I’m saying is, even for those cases, we must protect our young boys from older individuals who might try to take advantage of them by offering money,” she stated.

Millie concluded by saying she would support the bill but would push for necessary amendments.
