MP Kimani Kuria, the chairman of the National Assembly’s Finance and Planning Committee, has been at the center of controversy over new tax proposals that many Kenyans deem punitive.

Videos circulating online showed journalists touring the property and the compound where Kuria’s animals were kept. Some animals perished in the fire, while others were stolen. Of the six rare cows, each worth over Ksh 300,000, three were recovered alive. All 29 stolen goats were also recovered. Additionally, two cars were burnt, and a third was vandalized.

Despite the overwhelming force of the protesters, the police eventually called for reinforcements and managed to secure the house. The home is now under heavy security.
